I love music, and it's the only thing I can think of representing on my body permanently. I have thought of several things that represent music to me, but I'm somewhat unsure about them. The bass/treble clef, other musical notes, a speaker, a stealy. As far as now, the stealy is the only one I am kind of considering.
Another idea I had though, I like it, but I feel it's rather trashy and untasteful. It would be an old style metal syring, with the little glass on either side. The example I usually use is the one Travolta uses in pulp fiction(I'm not a junkhead by any means, just need to clarify ). Another example would be
Now, I would have it on my left arm, going into a vein, or at least in the general "shoot em up" area. Inside the glass looking window of the syringe would be a colored liquid(for some reason yellow always comes to my mind) with musical notes in the liquid. Then I would like to have a banner around it saying something- not sure what though.
I know this is something for me- but what I worry about when I think of this idea is how my family would view the tattoo, and how it could effect my future career(s).
what do you all think? any suggestions or modifications? anything?

I have lyrics by They Might Be Giants on my chest, and plan to get a portrait of Woody Guthrie on my forearm in the near future. I can understand music being so important to you that you feel you need to document that love in a permanent manner.
^^ Already have! Sleeve and a half,fingers,chest piece,legs from feet to knee caps. Soon to be rib cage too. And I have a semi professional job.
dasclyde,Fully suggest rethinking the needle idea. I have a friend that wanted a troll smoking a uhhh ... pipe sitting on a row of mushrooms and the uh ... smoke formed a pentagram. We finally talked him into doing it on his leg so that he could cover it up a bit if need be. This was 6 years ago and he regrets it everyday and constantly talks about covering it.

Music = Love. Seriously. I am obsessed with bluegrass wich led to me getting a banjo on my foot. Id think about an instrument or perhaps a record spacer? I dont know I'll get back to you.

I personally think it's a really cool idea for a tat. I HATE needles, so it would make me queezy just to look at, but it's def original.
I've been thinking of getting the aquarian symbol (water bearer) with music notes flowing out of the urn/cup along with the water. Haven't been able to draw it to my liking, though.

I don't have pictures of all mine but I've got: A suicide king in red on my wrist that says "this smile has a bitter curve" from the song brickwall views by the lawrence arms Then, I have the hold steady logo from stay positive on my other wrist. People constantly ask if its an infinity symbol. Then, I have my bruce springsteen halfsleeve. Its got a city skyline going all the way around and one side of my arm is day and the other night with a galaxy on top. Underneath that it says "its hard to be a saint in the city" from the boss song of the same name. Plan on getting a portrait in the underside of my arm but I've been too broke. Music tattoos rule if they're subtle. I want to get more. Still need to get my gaslight anthem tatto. But I also still need to get my yao ming zombie tattoo aswell. Tattoos are expensive. Shiiiiiiiiit.
