So, me and my buddies are flying in and were going to have to buy our alcohol in nashville, or anywhere near the show. We are not big fans of vodka, just wondering if anyone has had any luck finding any whiskey or rum in plastic bottles. And if not, can we purchase large plastic jugs with screw tops and seal them and put them in our cooler without getting in trouble for having an open bottle. We figure we're gonna go the liquor route instead of drinking tons of beer and being bloated and dehydrated.
I always buy whiskey in plastic bottles. Cheap whiskey usually comes in plastic half gallons (1.75L). And I know better whiskey like Jim Beam comes in plastic fifths (0.75L) if not 1/2 gal also.
Not a rum drinker so not sure about that.
There's a liquor store at Exit 78A (Murfreesboro/Franklin-Hwy 96) that easy to get to and near a Krogers if you nee other supplies also.

dude... i feel loved that you either took time to write that map out or to at least find it. Thanks alot.... but has anyone else ever tried the whole alcohol poured into plastic bottles and covered? Just wondering the legitimacy of my idea.
I brought my vodka in that way in '07 and didn't have any problem. It's legal to have an open container as long as it is not in the driver or passenger area of the vehicle. You can have it in the cooler as long as it's in the trunk or cargo area and is not readily accessible while sitting there. www.statesurge.com/bills/30140-hb3059-tennessee . To clarify, that particular state bill died last May, but a lot of the local laws are very similar to it. Sorry, should have made that clear before, but it doesn't change what ya should do.
Oh, and once you get on the farm on private property and off the roads, as far as I know, there are no open container rules. Naturally, don't drink and drive, but if they find an open container in your cooler, there shouldn't be an issue. There isn't anything published on their site or in the guide about open containers other than:
*When driving to and from the event be certain to obey Tennessee highway safety laws. Be advised that open container laws will be strictly enforced on all roads.

yeah me and my buddies bought a 24 pack of water bottles, emptied out a couple of them and filled them with vodka... put them in the middle of the case of water, no problems...
I don't know what you would do with rum though. You could put it at the bottom of your cooler, underneath some other drinks and iced food items. I don't know about other people, but nobody even bothered to look in our cooler.

Just a reminder - if you transfer your liquor to plastic bottles to get them out of glass, that is technically an open container, so put it in the trunk.

In TN, there is no law against open containers on state highways, but many counties DO have laws on the books. Just don't keep it in plain sight and, if questioned, just be honest. You should have not been drinking. On a side note, I too am an avid whiskey fan. I'm not sure if you're wanting to go cheap, but George Dickel, which is distilled nearby, I think is sold in plastic jugs, so that may be the way to go.
To clarify, there is no State law against open containers but most cities and counties have laws against it. It you are pulled over in TN it is more than likely that you are in an area which prohibits open containers and will be prosecuted.
Keep the open alcohol in the truck and enjoy it at Roo.

Another thing that I do:
In addition to buying a cheaper brand of whiskey in plastic (Beam, Evan), I'll usually grab about a couple dozen plastic airplane bottles of better liquor. Last year, I found some Makers Mark miniatures, some Stoli and Grey Goose vodka, and assorted flavored vodkas for any ladies that wandered by...this is a good way to keep your cost down and your variety up.

stop at any liquor store w/in 100 miles of roo and pick you up some of this. It's cheaper than Jack and better, IMO.
admiral nelsons rum comes in plastic everything! its about 1/2 the price of captain morgans and it is not too bad either. i think its around $12- $15 for a 1/2 gallon?

Last year Arlene and I brought in two types of liquer Jaggermister hidden in a box of wine and the other was a bottle of vodka ,rum ,taquilla all emptied into a watermellon we drainthe mellon for two days before filling it .

If you are near Nashville airport, the cheapest liquor store around there is on the corner of Donelson Pike and Elm Hill Pike, across from the Walgreens. Can't remember the name but I buy all my liquor and wine there because it is so much cheaper than anywhere else around here.
I think I may actually invest in a flask of some kind so I can sneak some rum or whiskey into Centeroo with me and buy some coke inside. I hate beer and that is the only option once inside
