Cauliflower can be alright is prepared in the proper fashion. Also, it's best not to know sometimes as your preconceptions of what is in the dish can diminish your ability to like it regardless of how much the hated ingredient is in it.
It like a 60/40 split, IMHO. The presentation is wicked important but if you don't like what you smell it's really not worth eating .. no matter how pretty it is.
Salmon turned out fabulous on Friday. I think the goat cheese cauli gratin sounds amazing too. I think you should break out some pork chops with it.
Nose is WAY more important for me. I tend to eat big piles of whatever I have a lot of the time and often it doesn't look appetizing at all, but man is it good, healthy and helps me not waste food!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Maybe. There is a butcher down the street from my family's house that has local grass feed pork that is just wonderful tender and plump.
Maybe pork chops with coffee gravy?
Congrats on that salmon, btw.

GL just operates on a cooking level above the rest of us.
Yes, he certain does! If I were the lovely Ms. Autumn, I would be 300 pounds because I would want to sit around all day eating GLs cooking!
I actually can cook pretty decently, but rarely do anything crazy because I am just feeding myself. Way back in the day when I had someone to cook for, I planned amazing, creative dinners. But for myself? Not really worth the effort. I still certainly lack in comparison to you, GL! I am not even sure what coffee gravy is!

GL, we have a new butcher shop that just opened down the road for me (and the other half of the store is a cheese shop!!) I'm a little afraid to go in there because I might buy one of everything.

^^ Neither have I, I've always wanted to go, maybe we should take a pre or post bonnaroo field trip.
My dinner tonight: The most beautiful looking steak I have ever seen and a baked potato. Simple but oh, so tasty.
On a super happy side note, I just discovered that my grocery store offers fresh lamb!!! I didn't acquire any today but I think I might go back and get some to make for Christmas.

Butchers really are the best. This guy has been a family friend for years. His farm is all range-roaming and grass-fed. He tried to call it an "ethical slaughterhouse" for awhile.
Go it! Just buy a little at a time though. It adds up quickly.
We have a family friend that butchers pigs and makes his own bacon and ham. My grandmother buys some every year, and we have "breakfast" for our Christmas meal: Eggs, ham, bacon, hasbrowns, homemade biscuits and homemade jam. And gravy of course, "red eye" and regular. I literally look forward to this meal all year long. Nothing can beat my grandmother's cooking.
OMG, that's this weekend!! I'm going to start fasting now.

OK, maaaaaaybe I'm the only one who thought this, buuuuuut...
If I didn't know this was GL talking in the dinner thread, it could easily be misconstrued as something Scrog* would say...in any thread. But it probably wouldn't have anything to do with cauliflower.

After we moved here, we decided to try out the local butcher. He offers a bundle of certain meats that was a pretty reasonable price, so I ordered a bundle which included various things, including two whole chickens. Now, his website says they offer the finest natural chickens, blah, blah, blah, and to look at the Petaluma Poultry website for more information. When we got our bundle home and opened it up, the two whole chickens were frozen Tyson chickens. I was so pissed. I should have taken it all back and tried to get my money back, but I didn't. I did send the guy an email explaining why I was very upset and would not be back. He didn't even bother to respond.

Ugh. I'm so sorry. I always buy what I can see around here. I don't trust people enough.
Tonight was country pork spare ribs with some lime-cilantro rice and lima beans. Easy peasy . Although Autumn grabbed the sriracha bbq sauce thinking it was regular. I need to label better.

I heard my name. Why I have I not been in this thread. I love talking about plump, young breast and juicy marinade thighs, a good butt from Boston can be so tender and tasty. A nice warm pie is the best, cover is with some cream (ice or whipped) and it is magical. When doing pie, it must be tight, you can't be loose. I mean, when baking one needs exact measurements, when cooking, you can guesstimate more.
Also, we do use our noses to taste, I am not sure how much, but I think a majority or our taste is from smell. Ever notice how things taste different when our noses are stopped up? Or ever pinch your nose when swallowing something that taste bad, like medicine?
I do like to cook and I am looking forward to some tips on here. ;D I love Mac N Chz, leftovers from thanksgiving turned into my first attempt and tasting of Fried Mac N Chz. Monday night we had a secret Santa at work and I made Fried Mac N Chz, that stuff is so bad for you, but it is so GOOD!!!
