Hi all.
I have been to Roo numerous times but never with a group as large as I anticipate taking this year (15-16 people, 7 cars or so). We will make the necessary arrangements to stay together on the way and to get in line together.
However, I got to thinking about the "staging" area just off the Interstate where you present your tickets. How difficult will it be to get a large group through there together?
If you have experience with large groups please post your pointers here (I love alliteration!).
Usually if you get there together (at the gate) and let the traffic guys know, they'll generally stop traffic and let you merge together.
In '07 we let several large caravans cut in front of us so they could stay together. And karma repaid us as they stopped the line in front of us and we got diverted to a huge campsite in what is now Tent Only (Camp Paulie.) If we'd have let one less person cut line we'd have been 15 minute further away.
We used window markers for the windshield last year. When we got into line I ran around and marked our cars with numbers to make it easy on the traffic people.
Good luck BTW.

^I thought there was enough room past the gates for a staging area, but I've never taken much notice of the area right past the gates b\c I've always been so fucking excited to get to the campsite. Thanks for the pointers BTW guys, I'll award all of you karma in good time!

We went with 4 or 5 cars last year, and right after our vehicles were searched and we got our wristbands just pull off to the side, and all drive together to the camp. Maybe tell the guys parking you that you'd like to park side by side if possible.

I knew someone wouldn't get my statement about the fence arround roo doing nicely . So hear goes the explanation for that roo is truely a LARGE gathering of people .
In 07 we had a 12 cars, I actually just got out and walked ahead, every time I came to traffic guy I just explained, and would stay by him till all the cars were through. Then walk ahead and do it again.
I have always been with about 5 - 10 other vehicles. Last year we actually had a cop hold the main line up so we could add some more of our group from the gas station. There are always some random pull offs on the side of the road that you can sit there and wait. Also, like others have said right when you get through the main checking station there is a big grass field that we have waited on, make sure you put your flashers or something on cause it tends to attracted people that do not know whats going on and then cause a massive jam and that normally is followed by mounty patrol and they bitch until you move. If you are nice and ask ahead of time and be respectful most of the time they will help you out though, along with the parker people. Just be nice and follow the rules and don't be scared to ask.
