Our company is looking for people who are interested in saving energy in the Middle Tennessee area. We thought we would see if any of our fellow Inforooers (renowned for their impeccable integrity) were interested or know of anyone who is.
We'll be air sealing, duct sealing and adding insulation to single family homes (weatherizing). You will be regularly working in crawlspaces and attics. We will provide training and study materials for proper technique and prodecure and the building science behind energy efficiency.
It's not as glamorous as wind or solar power, but it's absolutely the most cost effective way to save the most energy now.
The hours will be sporatic at first - weekends or part time. It could be a good opportunity for the summer. We anticipate opportunities for advancement.

Previously, we were doing this all on our own, but times they are a-changin. (Thank goodness!!)
Of course, everyone gets off for Bonnaroo. We're very flexible.
While I'm not interested in a job, I will reiterate that weatherizing is the most effective way to conserve energy, slow global warming, and reduce input of pollutants (mercury, lead, radioactive strontium and radium, SOx) to the environment.
And in this area and the Appalachians, it helps reduce the mass destruction of the environment caused by mountain top removal, the primary method of obtaining coal for power production.
With the new energy tax credits for weatherization now (or soon to be) in effect, this market should be one of the few that does well. Good luck.

That $1500 tax credit (plus $500 from our utility) is going to come in handy this year -- our heat & air is on it's last leg.
Hey that'll pay for our Bonnaroo VIP tickets next year. (This year's was already half paid for by all the money we have saved from weatherizing!!)
If you hear of a company in my area doing the same thing, point me in the right direction and I'll apply. The only "green" jobs I've seen around here is this place that makes turbines for windmills.
