Yes, the writing is terrible. I didn't even care for the story. What I hated the most was the entire story was based on the idea that she could "fix" a man who is a borderline sociopath, among other things. That's more fucked up than anything else in those books.
The thing about "kinks" is, that it's not something that's derived from a shameful and hurtful past. Sexual preference is something that should be developed from self confidence and appreciation.
Again.... My motto.... You can't love someone else until you love yourself.
