So I was just trying to get a better idea of the timelines and how they relate to walking distance. There are a TON of options, but I really couldn't think of a better way... If anyone does have a better way let me know!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

i think there is actually a poll like this already but we came Thursday maybe an hour or so before the first acts were going on and we were right next to RV camping, id say 10-20 minute walk.
your poll also only gives AM times for thursday, wutdafuk
we got in around 8:30 and as they flowed us in the Ferris Wheel kept getting closer and closer, we were 3 minutes as the crow flys from the side entrance
Here's a chart I did after 2007 using data from several these threads showing the perecent likelihood of being in BFE vs. arrival time. Last year a guy did basically the same thing as you've done and the data was still very similar and fell along this chart (though I think the likelihood of BFE was slightly higher on Thur pm than shown.)
Chart shows what most say, that getting there Wed gets BFE and then BFE fills up (lower right of map) and odds get better but it still depends on the random timing that they fill other areas (like BFE in upper right of map).
Only time I didnt do VIP I arrived Wednesday and was put back over in the corner the area most people seem to call BFE. Only that year it was sweet as hell and I would love to be there if it were that way again. The VIP area was not out front then so the walk was no where near as long and you could just walk straight into the main stage area.

Been to three 'Roo's, I've always shown up around 3 on Thursday and always have had no more than a 5 minute walk to Centeroo, via the entrance near the Other Tent.
The Mods can lock this thread if they'd like but I made this because I felt the two forums you posted were very scattered and I was looking for some more concrete #s.
Last year was my first 'Roo, and for my birthday I was upgraded to VIP. When I drove in I was just blown away by the 17 mile long line of cars waiting to get in to GA. This year I am going GA with some friends. I am driving down from NH, and trying to plan so I... A) Don't have to drive 18 hours only to wait another 4-6 in line... B) Don't end up in BFE

BTW, BFE was defined as a 30 min + walk.
Awesome info. thanks a lot. it would also be helpful - both for Troo's chart and this poll - if we could differentiate between Bushy Branch entrance and Highway entrance.

Last year we got in line around noon and got inside via the temporary interstate exit around 5:00-5:30. We were camped in Mr. Miagi which is about a 3 minute walk to the entrance by the ferris wheel. Unfortunately for you, if you get there at a time when there's very little line you have a much higher chance of being stuck pretty far out. Arriving in the afternoon you have a better chance of being close to Centeroo, but you will likely be sitting in your car for several hours waiting to get in. Personally I'm gonna shoot for a happy medium and get in mid-morningish and hopefully get a spot somewhere in the middle of the field of campers.
Bump, I am thinking on leaving Chattanooga around 3 or 4 AM Thursday. That would put me there about 5 or 6 AM. Hopefully that will get me out of BFE. I have been there the past 3 years, but I have also got in before 10PM on Wed.
Honestly, this is going to be my first roo and I kinda want to be out in BFE. I've got this feeling that the further out you are the crazier it is. We don't plan on spending that much time in our campsite anyway.
The back of BFE is a free for all/ BarterTown type of place (in a good way.). Kind of fun. But the walk is long and can be brutal if the heat is bad. If you just walk it once a day (or take the cabs) it ain't so bad. It is quieter at night and there are trees and shade (something you'll not find close up.)
If you mean on Thursday, BFE could possibly be full by then. If you look at a map, They fill BFE at the bottom right first and then BFE in the top right sometime in the afternoon. 3-6 would likely minimize chances of BFE.
Of course they fill up different every year (except they ALWAYS fill BFE, lower right first on Wed night and Thur AM to aid traffic flow).
They absolutely have to fill the lower right BFE first before 9 AM on Thursday so if you come early there is a very good chance you will end up there. The reason for this is that the access road for this BFE is needed on Thursday morning to fill the VIP camping area however VIP vehicles have to use this road in the opposite direction as the GA campers in BFE.
