EPIC RECORDS PROUDLY ANNOUNCES MONUMENTS AND MELODIES - A TWO DISC GREATEST HITS ALBUM FROM MULTI-PLATINUM ARTIST INCUBUS
NEW SINGLE, “BLACK HEART INERTIA” TO IMPACT RADIO APRIL 16
BAND ANNOUNCE SUMMER TOUR DATES
EXCLUSIVE PRE-SALE OFFER AVAILABLE NOW AT ENJOYINCUBUS.COM
New York, NY – Multi-platinum Epic recording artist, Incubus, is gearing up to release MONUMENTS AND MELODIES, a two disc collection of the band’s greatest hits and rarities, on June 16. The collection is a must have for fans of the band whose extraordinary career has spanned over a decade, has spawned twelve Top 10 hits – four of those landing at # 1, and six studio albums, the last being Light Grenades which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200, marking the highest charting album debut of the band’s career.
To celebrate the release of MONUMENTS AND MELODIES, Incubus is offering fans the opportunity to pre-order the album from www.enjoyincubus.com. The album pre-order automatically enters fans into an exclusive Internet pre-sale where they will be amongst the first to purchase tickets to an upcoming show on the band’s highly anticipated Monuments and Melodies Summer Tour. The tour will officially kick off July 9th at the Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA and will cover 31 major cities across the U.S. and Canada, including dates at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles and two nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
The two disc collection will be released in two configurations, a two disc CD, and a four disc LP. The first disc includes the band’s biggest hits including twelve Top 10 singles such as “Drive,” “Wish You Were Here” and “Pardon Me”, as well as two brand new tracks, “Black Heart Inertia” and “Midnight Swim” (both produced by Brendan O’Brien). The second disc consists of rarities that the band has recorded over the years, including a brand new cover of Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy.” Album artwork for MONUMENTS AND MELODIES was designed by lead singer, Brandon Boyd.
Adding to the rarities on the physical release, Incubus will launch the most comprehensive collection of Incubus audio, video, and photos in a new section of www.enjoyincubus.com called The Vault. Many of these items have never been seen or were released in limited editions. Each individual copy of the physical album will include a unique code that can be used to upgrade the users account at www.enjoyincubus.com and allow them to download most of this incredible Incubus material.
Following in the footsteps of the incredible radio story for the band’s single, “Love Hurts”, which went to # 1 at alternative radio and will impact Adult Top 40 on March 17, Incubus will release “Black Heart Inertia”, the first new single from MONUMENTS AND MELODIES, on April 16. Fans can log onto the band’s website to stream a 45-second sample of the track.
Brandon Boyd, Michael Einziger and Jose Pasillas II formed Incubus in 1991 when they were high school classmates in Calabasas, CA. Chris Kilmore joined in 1998 and Ben Kenney in 2003. The band’s big break came in 1999 with the release of the double-platinum selling album, Make Yourself, which included the singles: “Pardon Me,” “Stellar,” and “Drive”. The group’s third album, Morning View, released in 2001, debuted at number two on the album chart and included the radio hits “Wish You Were Here,” and “Nice To Know You.” The most recent release from Incubus, Light Grenades, blazed onto Billboard’s Top 200 in 2006, debuting at #1.

ehhh.... I don't think it'll be worth my drive to catch any of these shows. I'm content with the Incubus I've seen in my life, and unless they're playing somewhere that I am already at I doubt I'll be seeing them again.
My opinion is the more music they make, the less appealing they are for me. If they really wanted to blow minds they should go on a S.C.I.E.N.C.E. tour again

with the greatest hits and b-sides cd coming out they could play anything. they still play stuff from science.
can't wait for that show. pretty cool to get to hear a couple of new studio tracks too. a severe lack of the song damnation on that second disc though...

Well I guess I should just wait before making my decision to see what they play through the month of July, and if it interests me then by the time they come within 4 hours of me in August maybe I'll be swayed.
They could play anything, and they do play a few songs from their early albums on tour, but I'm really expecting them to focus on Make Yourself and afterwards, since those are the albums that put them at #1 on the charts, which to me seemed to be the focus of the whole announcement there. Multi-platinum, #1 on the charts, top 10 hits... yadda yadda yadda.
And it's always been my personal opinion that a band should not have a Greatest Hits-esque album until after they are done creating material for their career.

that's all label promotion bs. they are supposed to be on hiatus so the label wants to get something out of them. and since they are putting something out they're going to tour for it. that's all.

I agree to a certain extent..... I really like most anything up to Morning View, but the quality kind of trails, like you said.
I'd be down for seeing them as long as they played a lot of older stuff. Anyone who catches pre-Atlanta shows, I would greatly appreciate a run-down
a severe lack of the song damnation on that second disc though...
This for sure! A re-recorded/remixed/remastered "Purple Kool-Aid Cult" would blow my mind!
karma for that! i could definitely use a good quality version of purple kool aid, the damnation is very listenable. i love all the phases of incubus though, personalities are going to change so naturally the music will too. people would bitch if they put out clones of fungus amongus and science for their whole careers so they're just trying to please themselves.
True, but after Morning View I just wasn't a fan anymore. I grew up in my teens with them and the direction they took and the way that the separation with Dirk Lance (Alex Katunich) happened lest a sour taste in my mouth.

this is the common misconception, that dirk had anything to do with incubus' sound. they may have changed when he left but it wasn't because he was a big influence on their music. actually part of the reason they kicked him out was for not contributing. i actually thought when they came back with aclotm they were re-energized and having fun again. light grenades wasn't as good, but they really have not suffered any from the loss of dirk. ben kenney is a very talented guy.

well living in toledo they have 3 shows within 3 hours of me(Cinci, Detroit and Cleveland) so ill get to atleast one of those 3 dates.
very excited to catch incubus for the 3rd time.
looked around and found the set lists from the two shows ive seen:
5/31/2004 - Dublin, Ireland - The Point Set: Megalomaniac / Nice To Know You / Idiot Box / Just A Phase / Priceless / Wish You Were Here / Pantomime / Here In My Room / Drive / Vitamin / The Warmth / Beware! Criminal / Under My Umbrella / Talk Shows On Mute / Summer Romance / Magic Medicine / A Certain Shade of Green //[Ben's solo] / A Crow Left of The Murder / Sick Sad Little World / Are You In
07/26/2007 - DTE - Detroit, Michigan Setlist:

^ i havnt but i just got back from San Diego and one of my friends went to the JULY 9 show. She said they were good and all but played for only an hour and a half.. she said she spend more time in traffic to and from the show than act. time incubus played...
Its only one person and it was the first show of the tour so dont take it for too much. Im sure they will play a good show for you.. hopefully you will get at least 2 hours.
Incubus was the first live show i ever saw so they have a special place in my heart but i havnt listened to them in years.

this will be my third time seeing them havent been disappointed yet(although my first time is hard to compare to, they played for near 2 and half hours). it looks like their sets have been regularly 20 songs on this tour, so it should be around the 2 hour mark.
i know some others were thinking bout checkin them out...ill pass along what i see after the show
saw incubus sunday night in detroit and they sounded awesome.
didnt get as much older/rare stuff as i hoped for being in support of the greatest hits/rarity album, but they did bring it for sure. heres the set list: Pardon Me Nice To Know You Anna Molly Stellar Megalomaniac Circles Love Hurts I Miss You Drive(acoustic) Talk Show On Mute(acoustic) Dig(acoustic) Redefine A Certain Shade Of Green A Crow Left Of The Murder Quicksand A Kiss To Send Us Off Wish You Were Here Warning
[encore]
Punch Drunk Sick Sad Little World Lets Go Crazy(Prince Cover)
the acoustic version of Dig was very, very good and the Prince cover was pretty amazing. I thought they did a pretty good job of splittling up the show with the high energy in the first 6 songs. Then slowed it down with Love Hurts and I Miss You before they got into the acoustic set then picked up again before they got more mellow at the end of the first set. The encore was fun and Sick Sad Little World sounded great.
it was my 3rd time seeing them and they seem to bringing more energy on this current tour then in the past(which i've never had a complaint about to begin with).
over all if anybody is thinking about seeing Incubus if they are comming near you, do it. show was a lot of fun. also they have The Duke Spirit opening for them who sound very good live. their live show is a lot better then what i have heard of their recorded stuff.
