I think people moving to the front is a lot less offensive than somebody peeing next to me. But what do I know. I was taught to use the bathroom when I was 2, so it's been a while for me.
This whole thread is icky. Use a toilet not your neighbor.

I am all for getting to a show early and making friends with the folks that are there early too. Everybody will watch everybody's back, keep their spot safe when going to the bathroom, and not let folks in who didn't get there and wait it out like we did. This has worked for me many times.

This is verging on knitpicking, however, like I said, I was up to the front by the second song, Zack didn't ask people to stop till half way through the set. Seriously, this is a Rage show, if you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen, can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch, any other cliches are welcome.

i dont think just because you havent camped out the stage doesnt mean you shouldnt try to make your way closer, especially if you are by yourself. its real easy to tap someone on the shoulder as you slide by into that tiny spot just ahead of you to get that much better of a view without being a total asshole to everyone who was already there.
And if you plan on peeing yourself make sure you have a sign that says "I peed myself so I could get front row at Phish" and maybe you can get Trey's attention.
Last year (albiet Lollapalooza) we didn't even start our ascent to the front for Rage until the show started. Within 2-3 songs we were in the front 5 rows.
The only fight I've ever seen at Bonnaroo was caused by this.
Funny thing was, we were about 30ft back and to the right of the sound board for one of last years headliners. Me and my GF were talking with some people standing near us during a song and next thing I know 2 Jackasses with 2 beers each were bulldozing their way right through people. They would literally just run over people. Unfortunately for them the people I was chatting with didn't appreciate it very much, and we'll just say before anyone knew what was going on, the 2 guys were on the ground. One had a black eye and the other a nose bleed.
It happen so fast I seriously had no clue what I had just seen.

^^ he musta got punched really hard because last time i checked black eyes don't happen instantly.
haha,
but on a side note, why not just bring an empty water bottle? I believe you are allowed to bring one in, just bring an empty 32 oz gatorade, or a 2litre soda bottle if you really think you need one that big. If you are a dude this will work fine, just shove the bottle up your shorts and pee in it, you wont have to expose yourself at all, and nobody will care since you arent peeing on the floor or anything. Just throw it out later, dont leave it.
Its bonnaroo, people will understand what you are doing.
^Ditto. Once the show starts I just want everyone to get set.
Wow, you must spend a lot of time annoyed at Roo. At every show I've ever been to at Roo there are people constantly walking around -- to the front, to the port-o-s, to get beer, to a different show, etc.

on the note of rage at lollapalooza and piss: i did witness a guy pee in a bottle, and then proceeded to throw the bottle at a girl who was on her boyfriends shoulders. there was a resounding cheer i guess because everyone wanted her to get down, but yikes. i couldn't imagine getting hit with a bottle full of pee.
moral: if you have to pee in the bottle, please don't throw it at anyone...and if you've gotta spew, spew in this.

i couldn't imagine getting hit with a bottle full of pee.
There used to be a very popular 3 day (non-camping event here in Atlanta. My Buddy and I Went (I think we were 17). To make a long story short, they wern't suppose to give you the tops of your coke bottle but some ass hole ended up with one, Pee'd in his bottle, the proceeded to throw it. It ended up hitting my buddies head, and causing him to get 4 staples in his head.

I was there too. That was the craziest crowd I have ever been in. And I loved every second of it.
As someone who empties urinals, bedpans and bedside commodes... pee is not that gross. I'd much rather it be in a container than at my feet around my sandals or where someone might put a blanket.
I just wish I had the nerve to bring a device to pee in. (Girl-friendly that is.) Having to pee has put a damper on so many shows for me. Maybe I'll self-cath a Foley this year. :-P
My experience with the shows at 'roo last year was that being right next to the stage wasn't necessary at all. Especially at the What Stage, the sound was just as good a little farther back as right up close. I was both places, never in the pit, but for some sets I like hanging back like in the mist tent and just listening rather than totally raging
