As my Inebriated buddy walks out of the Porto, he yells out, "Dude...I love this place...bonnaroo thinks about everything...they even put beer holders next to the toilet!"
Had to break it to him that that was the urnal. Good times good times!
Heard some crazy good things about the band. What should I listen to by them?
"Ire Works". It's their most recent, so they'll definitely be mining it, plus it's probably the most accessible, in that there's some variety to the tunes. Their earlier stuff is mostly straight hard stuff. But it's all awesome.
Cool. I heard of Ire Works before. Just downloaded it and am listening to it right now. Pretty good. If nothing conflicts, I may have to go to this show. The one video in the thread of the lead singer spinting into the crowd was insanely awesome.

I tried getting into this band years ago, but I wasn't very metal-friendly, and couldn't dig it. That has all changed now, so I downloaded a few albums, and am pretty excited to see them at Roo!
Dillenger would be amazing to have. I've known them since they first formed the band. They live like the town over from my hometown. I would be one happy little girl if they were added!
DEP is awesome and I would recommend them to anyone. I've wanted to see them live, I really hope we get the add. Are their live shows really that brutal?
they put on a hell of a show, depending on conflicts id have to check them out for sure. but if theres a serious conflict with a band i havent seen before id prob have to miss them.

Yes, they are very brutal, but it's not like you have to be right in all the madness. Honestly, Ive seen Between the Buried and me, Opeth, MEtallica, SLipknot, SOAD, Every Time I die, Poison the Well, Gwar, Thrice, Unearth... Nothing compares to DEP... literally multiple flips off of balcony's and off the stage... utter chaos in the pit, and Greg is a fucking madman on stage.... I would expect some fire breathing at Bonnaroo....
Im sure they will bring the thunder at Roo... but at the same time you don't have to be directly in all the chaos

Oh man, Dillinger would be a fucking AMAZING add. I've never had the chance to catch them live but I hear from many many people it's a crazy time. Them at 'Roo would definitely be interesting, to say the least. Is it just me or does the lineup get more and more diverse every year?

I've never spent much time listening to DEP but what I've heard about their shows piques my interest if there's not a conflict.
That said, when adds are precious I can't say DEP would be near the top of my list. Since it looks like there's going to be at least one day/stage devoted to some harder bands (with Coheed and Down already on the lineup) I'd like to see them go deeper into some metal rather than punk/hardcore.
White Denim - 8/13-14 Power of the Riff - 9/1-2 Bruce Springsteen - 9/19 & 9/21 Gonjasufi - 9/24 Jay Z - 10/4 Animal Collective - 10/5 Swans - 10/10 GWAR - 10/16 New Order - 10/18 Squarepusher - 11/1 Bassnectar - 11/18 Neil Young & Crazy Horse - 11/27 Bonnaroo 2013 - ???

Man....this would rule. Check this out......I live 20 miles from Bonnaroo and the first two years of Roo I did not go because I wasn't so much into the jam stuff. Instead, in '02 I went to Louisville, KY the same weekend as Bonnaroo and saw Dillenger Escape Plan at Krazyfest. At that time I would never have expected them to ever play something like the Roo. Now it doesn't seem so strange.
Incidentally, Mastodon played Krazyfest the next year in '03, and then in '04 I went to my first Bonanroo and haven't missed one since. Of course they played last year and they were the bomb.
Anywho, at the DEP show in '02 one guitar player had already broken his guitar by the middle of the FIRST SONG, and while he was swinging the neck of the guitar around his head by the body, he smacked the singer's forhead which bled for the whole show. As the show went on the singer of course did his flips and climbed the scaffolding to the tent they were playing under (well under the size of a Roo tent), which caused the promoter to cut power to the PA until he got down. I haven't seen them since Chris Penne left but I know they used to do a fire breathing thing in time with the music during 43% Burnt. This time the singer did it then grabbed one of the guitar cabinets, laid it down on the front of the stage and blew fire onto it, and then the band left. It was pretty crazy watching the crew run out with fire extinguishers to put it out. I have all this on video too. I've gotta learn how to use the internet. Haha.
I'm not so much of a metal dude like I used to be, but Calculating Infinity is still one of my all time favorite albums.
Borrowed Ire Works off a friend yesterday and I can say Milk Lizard is my favorite song of that CD. I really like the whole southern metal vibe that song gives off.
I also really enjoy the rest of it though I'm thrown off by Black Bubblegum.

Black Bubblegum throws everyone off... the end of the song is amazing though.
I would say "Miss Machine" is my favorite CD to date... Balls to the wall the whole way through, with amazing moments in some of the songs where they breakout some more conventional shiz... then right back into the insanity. Plus it's the first recording with their current singer. "ire Works" is excellent, but I have to say Miss Machine is their best.
Best songs on Miss Machine:
Setting Fire to Sleeping Giants Panasonic Youth Phone Home Baby's First Coffin
Also their 4 song EP with Patton on vocals is pretty ridiculous... "Irony is a Dead Scene"

DEP puts on a crazy show, and anyone into metal should definitely check them out if their schedule permits.
I saw them back in '06, just not my thing anymore.
Interesting add for Bonnaroo though. But DEP is a metal act that wouldn't bring a ton of bad baggage, and very complimentary to the outcast of the initial lineup..Coheed and Cambria.

i dont think there is anything better than listening to sugar coated sour when you are really pissed at someone.
"did i stutter? yeah, you deserved it and you earned it. take a bow you deserve it. eat shit you earned it life would be so better if you did not exist"

so all we're missing really is Black Sabbath or the old GNR...or my personal favorite from the hair metal days (yes I'm getting up there)...Motley Crue?

;D maaaaaaan, after listening to them all night for the first time in a minute... I'm so damn excited for this set. If they end up not actually being added I'll be really sad.

I've pumped myself up so hard for this that if they lied to us I will be the ultra sad. Unless motorhead played instead
