Alright, so don't smite me for this or anything but I have a question.
It seems that everyone is going to all the Phish shows, and when I mean all of them, I mean like 10 of them. I thought that it was jamband fans nature to follow a band, yeah, but when the Dead is touring, shouldn't you be following them around instead of Phish? I mean, Phish is probably influenced from the Dead, and I'm sure that most Phish fans grew up on the Dead, so I'm just a little confused. Both are reunions, but the Dead haven't been around for like forever. I'm not biased in any way, I just find it a little confusing.
If a jamband fan could answer this, that'd be great.

well there are plenty of people doing the whole dead tour. i talked to alot of them in the lot last weekend. But, there are more people doing the Phish tour. Several reasons.
1)Jerry's dead 2)People underestimate how good the Dead still are 3)Judging by the Hampton tapes, Phish sounds like they're back in top form. 4)The scene. The crowd for the Dead has alot more 'over the hillers' than Phish does. 5) Tickets for Phish are 50. Tix for the Dead are 95 6)People on this board are excited for Phish because they're playing Bonnaroo. If the Dead were playing instead of Phish, there'd be alot more talk about the Dead tour.

This. Mainly this. I wanted to get Dead tix, but I couldn't justify spending 100 bucks to see em from sh!t seats. I've seen em a few times as The Other Ones and The Dead. Maybe I'll see em again. Def thinking about going down to the lot on Sat. night though.

I really don't think there is that large of a difference in people following the Dead vs people following Phish. But if there is, the price has a whole hell of a lot to do with it. I know I could hardly afford to see Phish twice and the Dead once. But then again, I don't really even have a job yet so I guess I can't complain about what I've seen at all!

Yeah that ticket price is a killer. Thanks.
Also, I might actually go down to the lot myself on saturday if I'm not doing anything. Can anyone tell me what goes on down there?

people in a parking lot playing Dead music, selling grilled cheese, veggie burritoes, jerry rolls, beer, water, tshirts, posters, glass, tapestries, and many different types of drugs. definitely do it. you might be able to scoop a cheap ticket. there was some really good ha sh going around last weekend. highly recommended.

Did anybody go check out the lot on Saturday? It was completely and utterly outrageous. I don't think i've ever seen so many hippies holding a finger in the air before...

^^Well if it's any consolation the chances of you finding a ticket would've been slim to none. There were no tickets to be found except for a few scalpers trying to make crazy profits selling tickets for $150-$200
i hit nassau, msg, and was in lot fri (i <3 lot) and in the show saturday at the spectrum. MSG was my favorite with last nights coming in 2nd...
amazing amazing time was had
and my friend got miracled! it DOES happen folks
I miracled someone at MSG... wonder if it was your friend. Glad to know it was your favorite, since it's the only one I could catch. I couldn't believe the energy in that place. It seemed like every single person in there was feeling the music throughout the whole show. And the setlist was phenomenal. Wish I could have made it to that first IZOD show, though, that show sounds incredible!
damn, i wish i had gotten miracled at msg! i just waited outside for someone looking to sell a ticket... the only people with tickets seemed very shady and wanted $300!!! ended up going to white castle and getting ill.
anyway, as i said before, i hit up both nights in worcester and hartford, too.
seeing phish at fenway, mansfield, hartford, and both nights of roo (er...probably)
i think the point of "people dont know how good they are" is a major reason (aside from the outrageous ticket prices).

Philly was SICK and takes 1st place for me Charlottesville comes in a close 2nd Verizon Center's show was quite good and might rank higher but the acoustics were awful.
I'm going to the Gorge in 3 days!!!! Can't hardly wait. Flying out to SeaTac on Friday, staying with a friend on Capitol Hill then driving down to the Gorge early Sat. morning. Awesome day, the Doobies, Allmans and Dead and camping that night. I'm practically bouncing in my seat with excitement right now
