So we've all seen school buses in at Bonnaroo and other festivals. Often they're decked out a la Merry Pranksters' Further. Sometimes with a full wood deck on top. Now, the bonnaroo website says: "An RV is defined as any vehicle larger either in length, width or height than a normal sixteen (16) passenger van. All oversized vehicles, trailers, campers that are towed and busses are considered RV’s."
...which brings me to my point: My next vehicle purchase will be a large van. But I figure why get a van when I can get a short bus? I swear I've seen buses parked outside the RV only area. Anyone agree? How do you think they'd like a short bus built on a Chevy Van chassis (i.e. a "cutaway")? I'm not talking a big hulking bus. I'm talking the smallest bus they make that's on a Chevy van / Ford van platform. No commercial driver license required (just 14 passengers+driver...CDL required for 15 passengers and over). I'm thinking both of these are no more an RV than those camper things you stick in the bed of your pickup truck.
You think Bonnaroo (and, for that matter, AllGood and Rothbury) are anal about measuring the height/width of your vehicle? (What about raised roof conversion vans and F350 duallys then?)
Thats a tough question. I'm pretty sure I've seen somewhere on there that busses aren't allowed. I would email Bonnaroo and ask them if it would be cool to bring that.
I would be super jealous though. I wish I had the money to buy one of those or a big ass van.

Vehicles over 16 ft long require an RV pass. If it's shorter than that, you should be okay w/o one.
This is not necessarily true. We had a full size high top conversion van in general camping the last two years. That van is nearly 20 feet long.
As for the bus it will depend on who you get at the gate so you may have to call a supervisor over to talk about it. That bus is probably about the size of the van we had the last two years and is much shorter than a dually pickup with a long bed which can top out at over 23 feet in length.

You are very correct in that it depends on who checks you in as to if that bus will be considered an RV.
I was just stating the official rule, which has apparently changed in the last couple months. It did read that an RV is anything over 16 ft now the official rule is:
"An RV is defined as any vehicle larger either in length, width or height than a normal sixteen (16) passenger van"
I'd say you would likely be let in but I'd know the measurements of a 16 person van as compared to yours just so you could make a case if you had to.

Thanks for the input. I will eventually e-mail bonnaroo and get some sort of promise that I won't be hassled too much at the gate. Glad to get a little moral support here before I do. I think owning one of these short buses would be hilarious. The big door on the side, the big door in the back, the fun bus windows. Most that I'm looking at lack the swing-out stop sign and half the lights a bus usually has.
I'd buy a pickup, but why buy a pickup when you get more interior space in a van? And why buy a van (boooooringgg) unless you're going to trick it out somehow (raised roof, super-extendo length)? Thus, a bus.
Just think of all the post-fest ground scores you could haul home with you.
