What we have here is not a failure to create a Bandaroo template. In this thread I will supply you, the Bandaroo writer, with a basic template to guide you along your Bandaroo scriblings. Since Inforoo is brimming with creative and knowledgable folk, I don't want to tamper with your creativity too much. With that said, use this template as a guide when creating the entries. If you're stuck, don't know where to start, don't want to spend too much time then stick to mine like white on rice. However, if you want to write your entry in your own unique way, then feel free.
Now this doesn't mean that you can just write a long, hard to read, convoluted paragraph about the band, its history, its music and its members' favorite mammals. We need some basic structure, so write your entries in an easy to follow manner. If you guys and gals have any problems whatsoever, then me know. We'll figure out a nice arrangement where we're both happy. (you = ;D and me = ;D)

Act Name
Any clever, quirky or awesome one-liners that you decide or don't decide to write
General Info Members:Names, instrument(s) played and anything else you want to write about them. Biography: A short biography about the band. Where they're from, their rise to fame, etc. etc. Feel free to quote from another site if you want to (be sure to cite the source though) Major Discography: The major albums by the artist, not the EPs or LPs or any of that stuff. If the act has been around for a while, has released a bunch of albums and you don't want to list them all, then only include the important ones. This part is totally optional
Sounds Like Genre: Similar Artists: Similar Bonnaroo Artists: Only if you have enough knowledge to answer this
Suggested Listening To familiarize someone else with this act, what material from them should they listen to? Don't feel limited to just the hit songs, go ahead and recommend some albums or live performances. Feel free to insert some youtube links here.

Like I said, this is your creation. Feel free to mess around with my template, make things colorful, add more pictures, write different things, etc. etc. Follow this if you want, but don't be confound to it. In fact, I'd love to see better descriptions than this template allows for.
IMPORTANT: if you're quoting something, then cite the source in a clear way. The best way is to insert the url right after the quote. Example: "Bananas in Pyjamas is an Australian children's television show which premiered in July 1992 on the ABC. (Wikipedia)"

Oh no no no no!!!!! I'm SO glad that you said that. Please go overboard, that'll be so friggen awesome. I tried to keep the template pretty minimal to not frighten people who are writing about bands they barely know about. The more creative and overboard you go the better
Actually, I do have one question... if I create my entry in Word, will I have to completely reformat the text here, or will things such as bolding and underlining and color and different fonts transfer over?

Unfortunately I do not know of a way to keep the formatting between word and this (html?). Maybe someone else does?
For any of the artists who tour a lot in a number of different settings, I think it will be important to know what kind of band they are bringing to Roo. What is the instrumentation, acoustic vs. electric, that kind of stuff.

most pics you find on the internet are copyrighted. i've heard (on certain websites, blogs) you can't use copyrighted images, even if you site the source. i don't see why it would matter if we're putting it on inforoo, but everyone may not feel that way. if i use a copyrighted image, will i get sued or be forced to take it off the site?

That's a cool idea. I'm not going to add it to my template because I want it to remain really bare, but for anyone looking to go beyond the bare necessities, look into Brewboss's idea.

Technically you're correct. However, the chance of us getting into trouble for putting a picture that's already scattered around the Internet onto our forum is really low. Think about every picture that someone on this board loads. They don't create the pictures themselves (for the most part), but find it using Google or something similar. Have they got in trouble? No. There are bigger fish to fry for the photographers. If we get into trouble, then I will be EXTREMELY sorry and will try to reach a solution.
