I've never started a thread before, but today is momentous enough to merit that happening!
On March 26, 1969, The Allman Brothers played together for the first time in Jacksonville, FL. Gregg had just gotten back from recording in California. Duane told him he had to see these guys that he'd been playing with while Baby Brother was in Cali. Gregg watched them jam, then jumped in and the rest is history!
I hope "the road goes on forever."
Anyone want to list their favorite Allman Bro.'s songs or send a Happy 40th can do so here!
Here's my picks for favorite songs: Melissa - mostly because I was named after the song Dreams- you can hear the emotion in Gregg's voice... raw! In Memory of Elizabeth Reed- great to hear live~
Here are some of my favorites there are way to many to list. Jessica Dreams No One Left To Run With Back Where It All Begins If you are ever in Macon, GA go to Rose Hill cemetery. You can where Duane is buried and the graves Elizabeth Reed and Little Martha. The only thing is that I wish Dickey Betts was still in the group.

They are actually turning "The Big House" into a museum. When I talked to the guy in charge of the renovation he said they'd probably be done in October. They are accepting volunteers. We were going to go over President's Day weekend but it was too cold to work down there. We're going to try to make it down late summer.
I definately want to make a pilgrimage to my Holy Land and check out the cemetry and Louise's H&H Restaurant.
I love the Allmans, and all the songs mentioned, but some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned: Blue Sky Revival Pegasus Every Hungry Woman Kind of Bird
