First time poster here. NIce to meet yall.
So I will be leaving for bonnaroo from Calgary, Alberta by the greyhound as a part of my backpacking around the world tour. This will be my second bonnaroo (went last year.) I've always wanted to see phish but never got the chance as they would never come near my part of the country, was too young, and then they broke up. So I figure heres my chance.
As I will be travelling alone and without a vehicle, I was wondering what are the chances of my stuff getting ripped off. I will carrying most things that are important on myself, but I do have a acoustic guitar that will be staying in my tent. Its not anything too fancy, just a small travelling guitar. Maybe stay with you guys in camp inforoo. Does anyone know if the heat in the tent might destroy it??
Also, when im leaving I plan on hitchhiking to NYC to catch a last minute flight to Europe. That seems like a long ride to hitch for. Do rooers ussually have any extra room in their vechicles for a well meaning traveller and his backpack and small guitar??

Welcome to Inforoo, rover!
Personally I have never had anything taken from my tent in tent only, BUT i have heard of isolated incidents... I would not bring the guitar if it's very important to you or any bit valuable, as there are no guarantees on its safety. Staying in camp inforoo does increase the chance of it staying safe, only because there is usually someone in camp at all times, but it's still not a 100% guarantee.
I'd definite stay at Camp Inforoo. Someone might even have a cooler place to stash your guitar. I'd be a little worried about the extreme heat and humidity warping it a little and pulling the neck or bridge loose.
Good luck hitching. It's a fun/interesting way to travel but can wear you out at times too.

Acoustic instruments and extreme temperatures, either cold or hot, are incredibly bad for your your instrument. If it's worth anything I wouldn't take it. If it's a junktar then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I've seen many a homeless that play theirs all year long.
