idk....actually I think AC/Superfly is being pretty smart.....this lineup is pretty much the anti-Roo....which is exactly what they would want to have for a fest 150 miles from Roo the same weekend no? ;D (It IS the same weekend again this year? I didn't check the dates.....)
EDIT: Ahhh...actually the weekend AFTER.....interesting....so Jane's will be hanging around the SE for a couple weekends....in NC the night BEFORE Roo starts....and have to be in B'ham the weekend AFTER Roo....hmmm....the possibilities... ;D
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
Well we had you covered for Styx last year at BSJ...but you keep letting the kiddies disrupt your concert schdules! LOL!
As a matter of fact several of those acts were at BSJ last year....
But Janes and Guster would be cool.....they are about the only ones that catch my eye at the moment....no way they will end up on the same day with my luck though.....

It is the anti- roo because its ran by AEG now(Coachella,APW,Rothbury...) They just took over this year.

Aha! I missed that! So we can expect an All Points South in the near future? LOL! Interesting.....
The line-up is definately underwelming. Last year it seemed like AC Superfly booked all the bands I wanted to see at City Stages instead of Roo. I am glad it didn't happen this year. I am not a fan of City-Stages, the set-up and location don't do it for me.
Yeah...I'm sure they will have day passes but I'm sure they will be around $25....and right now the weekend passes are only $35.....I'm seriously considering just going ahead and getting a weekend pass since my bff lives in B'ham and I have a free place to crash....if I only end up going for one day then eh....it's still a decent price for a good day of music and if I go for more than one day it's a steal! BSJ weekend passes on presale were at least $45 this year if not $50....so it's a good deal esp since I expect to see some decent, if not headline caliber adds.....
Bama, my wife and I may go to that. We should meet up and grab some food if we make it.
Definitely!! ;D When the full schedule comes out and we know who's playing when let's make some plans...I'd love to try and meet up...that's one nice thing about City Stages and BSJ....they are conveniently located so that you can meet up just about anyplace easily! LOL! Keep me posted on your plans and I'll do the same!
Um hi I live in Birmingham, if people need a place to crash let me know! Also, I may go this year. So lets plan a meet up
The head of City Stages said last year that they spent way too much money booking acts that not a lot of typical City Stages goers would want to see. It's true, honestly...a lot of the bands booked last year were GREAT, but most people in Birmingham were like, "WTF is a Flaming Lip?"....it just didn't attract the usual crowd. I'm a little underwhelmed at the lineup, but they're certainly aiming for their target audience here.

Sounds good. Do you have any locals only/hole-in-the-wall type restaurants to recommend? And I know it doesn't fit that description, but I love Zoe's. That place is incredible.

They removed Jane’s Addiction. But they added Black Moth Super Rainbow, Plain White T’s, Dierks Bentley, Wax Fang, Eric Hutchinson, Wild Sweet Orange, Zee Avi, Ryan Bingham, Electric Touch, and a few others.
Im from Birmingham as well. City Stages is lacking in the headliner department (this year, but last year I was amazed that "Shitty Stages" as we call it would have The Flaming Lips and Ben Harper) for sure, but there are some really great indie Birmingham bands playing. Vulture Whale, Great Book of John, Moon Taxi, and Wild Sweet Orange (played at Lolla last year) are all great local bands that could make it soon. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
