So I came across a listing for a Booker T show today in Winnipeg. That's cool enough, but there's a few aspects to this show that make it a little more intriguing.
#1 - Booker T's latest album features Neil Young, Neil is from Winnipeg #2 - The opening act is Randy Bachman/Burton Cummings, of the Guess Who, a rather famous Winnipeg band (you may have heard American Woman once or twice) #3 - Neil Young grew up playing the small coffee houses around Winnipeg at the same time as the Guess Who. #4 - Neil Young is supposed to be recording an album with Randy Bachman later this year.
oh, and I also just found out that the Dirty Dozen Brass Band (whom Booker T has played with before) are in town that same weekend playing the Jazz Fest with Al Green. That's gonna be one awesome weekend. The Winnipeg Jazz Fest has been bringing in some really good acts lately.
