My roommate and I are training for a marathon in the middle of July, and we're definitely not going to want to lose any of our training over the weekend of Roo. So, if there is anyone else out there that wants to run with us in the mornings, we're going to be doing a few miles (3-5) to keep ourselves up to speed with our training, while still not tiring ourselves out for the day (which I understand is impossible as this will be my fourth Roo).
We're going to meet at the corner of Shakedown and Bushy Branch Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings, probably around 8:30 or 9:00 to go on our runs and get them in before it gets blistering hot. If anyone would like to join, we'd love that as we're hoping there are more runners out there than just us (we were hoping it could be a community thing). We won't be killing the pace or anything, so no worries there.
Also, if anyone has any ideas as far as routes are concerned, that would be great because I'm hoping not to be running into pedestrians on the walkways.
that's cool, but can we make a stop at shakedown before we start running? lol naw jk man, im all for you staying in shape and all, but I have a feeling almost nobody is gonna wanna run around in the 90 degree heat. I'm getting my ass into serious shape starting yesterday. It's gonna be a long weekend...
Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

The only thing I would think would be a concern is foot traffic. I dont how bad it is on Bushy Br Rd that early. But you may want to go left on BB rather than right, into all the foot traffic (I assumed you were going that way.)

I'm an avid runner....but I just don't know if I'll have the energy to run every morning.....exercise and hangovers don't mesh well together for me....besides....I think I'll be at the yoga classes anyway, but good luck to you my friend!

You guys are hardcore! I love to run. I usually score in the top %90 percent of the army in my 2 mile run, but I will NOT be running at Roo. I plan on maintainiing my PT routine until the Monday prior to Roo. I'll take that week as a rest-week.

If I see you guys I'll join you. I usually run to stay in shape, but a couple months ago I got a pretty bad groin injury from not stretching enough, so I'm just now getting back into it.
Running is not for me but if you were to say a morning lifting session I would defiantly be down for that. Defianlty down for the Yoga I am sure I could find some interesting ways to stretch my girlfriend out
Well, the marathon is in Missoula, Montana on July 15th. That also happens to be my roommate's birthday, and he has a tradition of running a race on his b-day. Also, it starts at 6:30 AM, so I don't think the heat is going to be a huge problem, though exhaustion might be with running that early. Plus, we're driving out there from Cincinnati, OH, which is a 27 hour drive. It sounds crazy, but I'm actually really looking forward to it (I know I'm loony

damn, July is terrible timing for a marathon. I will have barely started my "official training" for the Chicago Marathon (in October) when 'Roo gets here - I will just take a few days off. You are right though, you can't skip 4 days of training that close to your event - you might even need to run more than the 3 miles. Good luck to ya; I hope you maintain your training. Motivation usually isn't an issue for runners/marathoners, but 'Roo might throw some deterents to running at you!
i'll be in the first stages of training for the chicago marathon (oct 7), so will also be looking to get some low-stress maintenance runs in. this will be roo #4 and marathon #8; generally the two don't mix well. :-) but i'm determined to try this year.
i have a garmin GPS watch that makes it easy to gauge the miles... i will probably head out from camp and explore 4-5 miles a day in different directions.
send me a note through the site if you're interested in trying to hook up. i can't guarantee any start times until i see who is playing the late night sets, though!
