Newport Folk Festival lost its sponsorship so Festival Networks wasn't going to put it on this year. Founder George Wein stepped in and is putting on a festival the same weekend at the same location. Initial lineup announced yesterday.
Sweet lineup. I think my exchange student arrives the following day, though. Grrrrrrrrr. I regret choosing Lolla over Newport last year. Double Grrrrrrrr.

Last year's lineup was better but i'm hoping for some good additions. Pete Seeger, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine and others are very good but I wish I could have gone in 08. It had Felice Brothers, Jim James solo, Trey Solo, Richie Havens, She & Him and some other great acts.
only time i went to the NFF was last year - that jim james solo set was astounding.

but im pretty sure i will be attending this - its close and im sure the price will not be completely ridiculous
Pete Seeger, The Decemberists, Arlo Guthrie, Fleet Foxes, The Avett Brothers, Josh Ritter, Iron & Wine, Ben Kweller and Low Anthem sound like a nice way to spend a day

I really wish I had gone last year and seen the Jim James solo set though... oh well, Joan Baez, The Decemberists, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine, Ben Kweller and Neko Case are more than enough of a reason for me to check it out this year.
