Aloha from rainy Maine! So my friend and I are two first time roo-goers headed from around Portland, Maine. Unfortunately we are under 25 and that means renting a car costs a bunch more. My friend Nick is a bit more thrifty than I am, but instead of taking the bus (which we don't want to have to do ??? ) we are going to rent a car and see if we can get one or two other people from the New England area to help split the rental or gas cost.
I pretty much just browse this forum (First post!) but anyone interested can either answer this thread or contact me on my facebook (http://www.facebook.com/people/Matt-Farr/1221060050).
We could probably travel a little ways off the main route to pick or meet people, so get in touch!

Brother...I'm actually considering renting like a 16 passenger van, and I'm like 2 hour south of you...in Manchester NH. Last year with the gas prices, it cost $600 roundtrip in my little Jeep Liberty (4 of us plus gear). I'm thinking that there might be a significant cost savings for like 8 to 10 people plus gear going down in one vehicle. Might cut our travel costs down to $100 each...which ain't so bad. Lemme know if interested...I'm looking into the rental details today....
