Hey everybody! Roo is right around the corner! WooHoo!!!!! BONNNNNNAROOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
Ahem, sorry 'bout that, I'm a little excited. I've been thinking about this tip lately but haven't been able to really put it into words that really convey my thoughts but here goes.
When at Roo you're going to be subjecting your body to many many unusual things. I'm talking about:
1. ALL DAY heat and sun. 2. Miles and miles of walking in grass and on dirt roads. 3. Fest /travel / fast food. 4. More beer than usual. 5. Less sleep than usual. and. 6. More debauchery in general than usual.
So tip of the week Vol. 12: While you're there to listen to music, you need to remember to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY.
If you feel thirsty, you're already behind. You need to drink enough to stay one step ahead of the thirst monster. If your lips feel cracked and your tongue feels furry.... your body is trying to tell you something. LISTEN!
If your ears feel like they're burning, no one is talking about you. THEY'RE BURNING! Get some more sunscreen PRONTO! The same goes for the back of your neck, back of your knees (ouch!), your back, and girls.... remember the girls usually don't see as much sun as you're likely to let them see..... Burnt to a crisp early Friday afternoon? You're not going to make it to all those late night shows.
Another one: Is that a tiny rock in your shoe? Maybe.... but don't ignore it. It may be a blister starting up.
It can go beyond normal physical feelings too. I talked about hanging with Gus a few tips back and having to pass out and missing a highly anticipated show. Know what? When he came around I didn't think I wanted to hang out but.... I bowed to peer pressure... and didn't have a great time. I should have known to say no. If you're not feelin' it, don't think it'll be OK anyway.
OK, I need to get back to work so, there ya go.
Don't forget to LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. Really, it knows what's best for you!

I think this tip is especially critical. I went for the first time in 05 and got sunburned and dehydrated as hell early on Friday. A liter or two of water, a multivitamin, a solid breakfast, and sunscreen first thing will set you up for success. If I feel bad at all all weekend I want it to be because I was too hardcore the night before.

and bring some fruit for the mornings...get some natural vitamins and sugars into your system. Fruit and water in the morning equals a strong base for your daily operations
I plan on bringing OJ and Watermellon balls, good source of energy and refreshment. Definitly good for recovering. I was also thinking about getting a daily vitamin regiment going anyway but especially to help deal with the wear and tear of Roo. Any suggestions?
^ I plan on just bringing my One-A-Day men's multivitamin. It's got everything you need for the day. Taking one with breakfast should ensure that no deficiencies occur.
