so i'm a new zealander venturing to bonnaroo... doing my whole..... worked a shitty job for a few years, saved and i'm getting out of this country thing... my friend from highschool is married and lives in the US so when i said i was coming, it coinsided with their group going to bonnaroo they invited me...so i'm going...i have not much of an idea what to expect but... from what i've gleaned from the message board it sounds intense... and the line up is awesome.....
ummm so any other new zealaders going? incase any read this.... thatd be keen on doing some travelling after...
any american girls thatd uhhh like to adopt me for the duration?
and i have a problem with heat and sun, like the sun coming up too early when youre camping out and waking you up much, much too early when youre hungover.... is it going to be too hot to tack up tin foil to the inside walls of my tent to prevent the sun coming through... or in doing that am i likely to wake up with sevre heatstroke or not at all?
i'm going where the sun keeps shining, thru' the pouring rain, going where the weather suits my clothes. backing off of the north east wind, sailing on summer breeze, and skipping over the ocean like a stone.
We treat mishaps like sinking ships and I know that I don't want to be out to drift Well I can see it in your eyes like I taste your lips and They both tell me that we're better than this

what's up buddy, i'm glad to see that you'll be visiting the country, bonnaroo, and my home state. tennessee and the surrounding areas in and around the smokey mountains is a very pretty place. lots of species of trees, lots of open wilderness, waterfalls, bluffs, etc. how long are you gonna be stateside?
here's a pic from atop signal mountain near my home in chattanooga, tennessee (about an hour away from bonnaroo/manchester):
So is this your first trip to the U.S.? Be advised that all of it is exactly like Bonnaroo.
Seriously....I assume this board is still active after Roo, and I'd love to hear what you think of the event, the area, and the country afterward.
I have a friend flying over from England for Roo. He's really excited. I hope to God I don't have to go bail him out of some Customs or Immigration holding cell afterward!
What is it with women and British Empire accents? I'm salivating just thinking about them.... (Sorry I can't adopt you, but my husband won't let me bring any more pets home.)
and i'm sorry if it disapoints but im not going stateside solely for bonnaroo my friend that im staying wioth in atlanta, her and her husband and their friends that i've met once for their wedding, all awesome people are going and so i adjusted my tickets so i could come sooner, have a bonnaroo experience...
read all the faqs stuff to bring etc.... and i cant wait.... it sounds awesome.... i'll be travelling light but i guess walmart will have everything i need....
um planning on staying in the US for a month.... well umm ive got a 90 day visa and my tickets are adjustable...
i'll see when i get there kindve thing cause i dont want to extend my tickets and stay longer at my friends cause then i'd just get in their hair....
i'm planning to do some greyhounding and stuff... love to visit florida.....
after america i'm going to germany for a week.... i have like, awkward first date conversation german.... and then to france where the other half of my family live... and i've got a french passport etc so i can work/ stay as long as i like/ need too to catch up with family and all.....
then long haul connection flights with stop overs in hongkong etc back to new zealand....
and as for traveling alone... alex garland wrote in 'the beach'
"as for travelling alone.... fuck it, if that's the way it has to be... then thats the way it is"

I hope you thoroughly enjoy your visit, man! One word of advice: you don't get to see the good parts of America when traveling Greyhound. Most of their stations are in the middle of ghettos or industrial ghost towns and swarming with con men and thieves. I have done a bunch of Greyhounding, and would not want to wander beyond the station. Hopefully you have a place to go at whatever stops you choose. Florida is awesome, that would be ideal to check out since you are in the southeast already. Hope you have a blast!
