The really big weather balloon style ones are put up by the festival. It takes a bunch of helium to fill them. A bunch, as in way more than you will probably have.
Don't believe it!!! We bought a beautiful barbie balloon at walmart (it even sang a song about being a princess) and the security guy took it! He didn't take our glass bottle of wine, but he did take our 20$ balloon. It was a sad moment.

they took my mylar dolphin in 07 because it was inflated already. Because of nitrous concerns...I guess people dealing whippits or whatever. But I got in with my helium tank that year.
I have never had good success with balloons staying afloat very well. Any suggestions on what works best??

Balloon should stay afloat for at least a couple of days as long as it is mylar.

what a mean, mean person to take your balloon. maybe he just had a thing for Barbie?
i know! he did look kind of sad when he was taking it though. i am pretty sure it is because of the no-no reason people use balloons. luckily tons of people around our tent had flags etc, so we just used those as a marker to find home at night.
They allow helium tanks in as long as you have the nozzle ready and can prove that it is helium. But i still always put mine away just in case....Party city sells 3 foot balloons for 3.99 a piece. Make sure to bring plenty of kite string and extra balloons if anyone is considering doing this, People sometimes like to steal balloons.

I've flown huge balloons every year over the campsite. We usually get them somewhere online...starting at 3ft. diameter, bigger is better...couple bucks for 1 balloon but buy plenty cause they go down quick from buttholes with pointy sticks or whatever.
The helium tank is usually $100-$200 downpayment on a large tank. final price depends on what you use from tank. the price is worth it when you're able to find your exact campsite no matter where you are on Roo property.
just be prepared to have plenty of people showing up at your site thinking that it's the medical tent or security if they catch site of the bottle, thinking its....not helium.
