I am thinking of getting this chair. The seat is 13.5" high, which I think will get by the Centeroo Defense Force. I'm only 5' 9" so I'm not concerned that I will be a terrible obstacle to my fellow roo'ers.
1) Is that probable? I think the seats are supposed to be 12" or less, but really...what are the chances they'll prevent me from using a seat 13.5" high? I can buy another chair if the consensus is 13.5 is unlikely to pass.
2) Is a chair useful in Centeroo much? I'm the kind to keep a fairly tight schedule, going from show to show throughout the day. I don't mind carrying a chair from place to place if I will actually be able to use it. Is everyone packed tight and standing at every show?
3) Is there much sitting around going on at camp? I imagine myself popping to camp, sipping some Patron or Bacardi n Coke, gabbing 15 minutes with campers, and walking back to Centeroo. Is that overly ambitious? Is there a lot of posterior recreation?
Should I just get a inflatable Green Bay Cheez Butt?
There is usually plenty of room to sit in a chair back away from the tents and stages, but if you're going to want to get up really close I wouldn't count on it. I've never seen anybody use a chair if they weren't hanging back away from the main crowd.
I never bring a chair. Just sit on the ground. Bring a chair and a little folding table for the camp. You will be at the tent at least until noon. It's a good time for a few drinks and card games.
If you're watching shows on one of the stages, a chair can be a nice relief for your feet. I had a chair about this height last year and never got turned away. My sister, though, got sent back with a similar chair just before BB King. I think it all depends on the security person. Personally, I'd got less than 12 inches just to avoid the situation.
I think a small beach chair is a gotta-have, especially between shows. You can plunk it down under one of the trees and take a small siesta without getting stepped on. Also, it's great if you don't need to be up-front. Make sure you get one with a strap so you can put it over your shoulder. To get past security, put an ace-bandage on your knee and you'll get a bit of sympathy...
The only way I would bring that chair is if my tent was really close to centeroo. Sometimes you stay in centeroo 12+ hrs if your camp is faraway like our's was (40 mins walk) and there is no way I would want to carry a chair around all day. It would be a drag if you wanted to dance late night. What our group of 4 did was carry around a yoga mat. Comfortable to sit on and easy to roll up and strap on your backpack or over your shoulder.
Our group used these for the last three years. They are great, and it's really nice to have somewhere comfy to sit when you're there all day. And, they serve as a backpack.
I highly recommend a Crazy Creek style chair. I folded mine up and bungee-corded it to the outside of my backpack (though if my pack was bigger, it would have fit inside). It was so great to have back support while waiting for a show. I got a faux one for about $7 from Campmor, though I don't see them that cheap now

I think the height of the chair seat has to be 12" or less, not the whole chair. I think it would be wonderful to have a chair but there is no way I would want to lug one around all day.

Got one of these on Amazon, canopy included, $40. Not a bad deal, and probably low enough to take into Centeroo (not sure how people would feel about the canopy), though I kinda doubt I will bother with it. Probably just use it to lounge at the camp morning-wise.
Here's my preference. 15" off the ground- just enough to keep your butt up. However, as a large man I will ask you not to laugh as I try to get my ass out of it, esp. late night!

We have 2 of the Kelsyus chairs without the canopy. We kept them with us all day at Roo last year and were awesome to have. They got a little heavy by the end of the night. I think this year I will take them during the day and then put them back at my campsite around dinner time.
I have the Kelsyus without the canopy. I agree that it's the best chair for Bonnaroo. It passes the height rule and is very comfortable. A good chair is essential if you are going for a long day in centeroo.
Just received it yesterday, it is totally, totally awesome. The shade canopy it is a little ridiculous, might be ok if you were way in the back at a show or something but the chair itself is very comfortable. Can be slightly unstable, being a tripod design, but it's so nice to kick back and recline on the little attached pillow thing. Very good purchase ;D
Another vote for a Crazy Creek. This is a great low profile chair for festivals. This year will be my first year at Roo but last year at Lolla my wife and I were able to get to a stage early camp out close to the stage amongst folks sanding sitting in our chairs, and then stand up and fold it away or stand on it during the show.
Bottom line is its a great option for relaxing between sets while still being low profile to get in close and not bother anyone. Easy to clip on a camelbak to carry as well.
