Hmmm... Mods, now that I think of it, this should probably be moved since it doesn't have to pertain to 'Roo artists.... I'm always so awful at thread placement for some reason
But you guys have added some really good stuff to my list I'll post mine after I get some much needed rest. Dave and the Avett Brothers really set things off right earlier tonight but now I'm pooped.

all great picks, guys
my summer mix so far this year includes tracks from: Sublime (40 oz to Freedom) Slightly Stoopid (closer to the sun) MGMT (oracular spectacular) The Decembrists (specifically "July July") The Muslims (self titled) The Black Lips (good bad not evil) Friendly Fires (s/t) the soundtracks from "blow" and "fear and loathing in las vegas" ...and bob marley, cuz its always good to hear some bob in the hot hot sun ;D
yay for summer mixes!! this weekend for sure felt like summer in the northeast...i even went to the beach!
Marley for sure. Sublime, indeed. Some Miles Davis for starry nights. And some bluesy stuff for those chill nights on the porch.. Grace Potter, JJ Grey, The Wood Brothers etc.
^^^ Kudos for the JJ Grey reference. "Lazy Fo Acre" is one of THE best summer anthems of all time!!! Which brings me to my next point... When is MOFRO gonna return to the farm?
Also... The "Blow" and "Fear and Loathing" soundtracks are absolute essential listening. Id have to add "Elizabethtown" to that soundtrack list, both volumes. Tom Petty, Ryan Adams, MMJ, Elton John, Wheat, Rachael Yamagata, Inine....etc. Amazing stuff.
Josh Ritter - "Right moves" My Morning Jacket - "Aluminum Park" ALO - "Roses and Clover" Phish - "Wolfman's Brother" (3.7.09) The Beatles - "Got to Get You Into My Life" Vampire Weekend - "Everywhere" (Fleetwood Mac Cover) The Band and Van Morrison - "Caravan" (Last Waltz) Tom Petty - " Its Time to Move On" Talking Heads - "Naive Melody (This Must Be The Place)" Mike Doughty - "I Just Want the Girl in that Blue Dress to Keep On Dancing" Gomez - "Airstreeam Driver" Dave Matthews Band "Old Dirt Hill > Why I am" (4.18.09) Weezer and Soul Coughing - "American Girls" The Decemberists - "Summersong"

this is a fun question. i love making playlists for everything & i haven't started my summer 09 one yet. (i usually keep the old ones & when i play them, it reminds me of that summer, you know?) i wrote down a bunch of these ideas! thanks, guys! =D
^You're more than welcome I always make playlists for everything as well; on the way to shows, on the way back, certain occasions, going to the park, working out, working in the greenhouses, seasons, cooking mixes, cleaning mixes, mix cds for people.... Always makes my journey a little brighter
nothing better than throwing on some Pearl Jam/Alice in Chains/Nirvana on a warm summer evening with friends, reminiscing about old times, and better times.
