Thursday! 4 PM! We will wait until 4:30, if we don't have enough people, though, we will call it at 5! Late comers welcome if they can find us! Meet up at the MUSHROOM FOUNTAIN! Bring yourself, bring people! The more the merrier! If you have an ultimate disc, like a Discraft Ultrastar or Innova Pulsar or the Frisbee one, bring it! Cones are taken care of. This is a low-key, low-competition game! The object of this is fun! I needn't have to say come with a good attitude! All skill levels welcome! I suck as much as anyone, I just love to play it! Look for the tall, bearded pale guy at the fountain with either a disc or a bag of them. That's me.

The past 2 Bonnaroos I've been to, the only two, I always see a lot of people throwing around a frisbee/disc. Every time I always wanna get a bunch of people together to play a game or two of some ultimate.
So since Thursday is a little slow this year, I'm going to (make an attempt) to organize an ultimate game or two.
I've posted on both here and on the official forums about the topic. Hopefully we will get a good number of people who wanna play!
Here's the deal! If you want to play, meet up starting at 4 at the Mushroom. We will wait for players until 4:30, unless we don't have enough, then we'll wait till 5. If at 5 we still don't have enough we will call it.
There major issue is simply finding a place to play, but there seems to be many big open spaces around Bonnaroo that I see every year that would be perfect for something like this. Once we meet up we will decide then where the best location is. We may need to do some scouting around or wandering to find a good spot.
If there are as many people coming who say they'll come, we will have an issue with team sizes. Having more than 7v7 is going to get chaotic, so we may need to break into multiple games, or have a rotation system. We'll decide on that when we meet up.
This is not gonna be a high competition game. I'm personally not a great player, I just love playing it. If you're good, you're very welcome to tag along, teach some beginners how to play the field, throw, etc. I used to play regularly so I can teach some basics, but I'm very out of practice. This game is mainly just to have some fun, blow of some steam, tire yourself out so you can get a good night's sleep, ready for the big days ahead.
That would be great! There are those 'emergency lanes' between camps that would work. You'll just have to figure out how to distribute the when/where info once Thursday rolls around and people are getting the lay of the land, figuring out where those lanes are and such.... or..... I wonder if there's a place in Centeroo on Thursday? I seem to remember open spaces near this, that, and other? All ya need is 4 traffic cones, a disc, people, and some open land, right?
I would love to play, and the 3 people with me would probably be in also. Ultimate is just plain fun for everyone involved, players and spectators. It would be fun to get an audience as we go along. Bonnaroo is the one place where there is next to no chance of the game getting too competitive or angry. I've been craving a nice friendly and relaxed game of ultimate. I played a high school tourney this weekend and the other teams brought headaches with the rules and the angry coaches.
Is there a chance of a monday morning game or do they kick you out immediately? It would be nice to not have to worry about tiring myself out on the first day of the fest.

I'm a Walla Walla Sweet Onions fan. I traded one of my jerseys when they rolled through MN, the jersey I got has a picture of Ursala the evil onion queen. The team brought onion rings and veggies with onion dip for the crowd. College ultimate definately brings the best team names and vibes.
That being said, is it possible to play on Monday at all? If it isn't, I think Thursday afternoon would be our best bet.

I'd be very interested in finding a spot and help get a game together. I'm always game for some ultimate. I'll let this thread keep going awhile, to drum up more interest. If we get a significant amount of people interested we should set up a meet up time and place on Thursday afternoon, and we can go from there, finding a place to play, picking teams, etc.
As far as scramble, in a nutshell it is dodgeball with a disc. The best is a rubbery disc so when it hits things it won't break, and when it hits people it hurts less. lol Rules are pretty simple:
- You play in a small square or circle, maybe 75 or 50 feet in diameter, depending on how many play. - Any player who has a disc cannot move with it. - If a player gets hit with a disc, they're out. - If a player catches a disc, whoever threw the disc is out. - If the person who got you out gets out, you're back in. That's the catch. This way, the game can continue on and on, and the winner of the game is the person who has gotten out every other player in the game. It sounds longer than it really is, trust me. As long as people are on their toes games go by pretty fast. - To add to things, you generally have 2 discs in play at all times, even 3 if a lot of people are playing.
It can be incredibly intense when you've got good players. The trick is throw it as low and fast as possible. It's nerve racking when discs and flying by you at 70mph 1 foot off the ground, lol.
thursday aft for sure. im so in! there was a huge fairway like field near where i camped l;ast year. u know the second gate into centaroo? ( the smaller one) keep walking passed it and not even a fourth of a mile passed it twords the right is where it is. people were tossing the dics all the time there last year
Some guy posted an open invitation to his tequila party on the roo boards, but I'll probably last longer after a game of ultimate than I would after 10 shots of tequila. So, I'm in. I'll keep checking back for more details in case you post any.

Nah the dodgeball style game is scramble, not ultimate, totally different games. We'll be playing ultimate unless we can't, then if people want we could do some scramble. Just another option.
lol I'll bring a helmet. Discs seem to be attracted to my head/face at the farm. I've been hit by one every year!
oh snap, although painful, i'd probably keep the tradition going, just because if it happened every year.. it just wouldn't be 'Roo without a frisbee upside the head

'07 I got hit in the back of the head. The guy said sorry and gave me five bucks. In '08 I was enjoying some corn when I got nailed right in the bridge of my nose. Let's hope for torso shots in '09!
This will be my first year at the Roo..and I just recently became a huge fan of ultimate. I'd be game to come out and play...especially because my experience with college club teams here in michigan is way to competitive, so I would love to have a relaxing game.
Plus I'm sure it would be nice to get some females out playing!!!
