I was in a serious mosh pit at a Badfish show(sublime cover band). I always think back about it and ponder about how odd it is to mosh to Sublime. I mean seriously what were those kids thinking back in the real days of Sublime? Those kids were some hardcore people moshing to reggae music! And I feel like it's even wierder to mosh to Sublime music bieng played by a cover band.

"When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." Hunter S. Thompson
^ i mean, songs liek New Thrash would call for moshing. cool thing bout Sublime is they are punk/reggae/ska/hip hop/rock plus more i dont knwo about prolly.
Yeah true they do have quite a bit of songs to mosh to. But the funny thing was, in my case anyways, once everyone started moshing it didn't really stop. So like people were moshing to Garden Grove and stuff and it just wasn't appropriate.

people actually start moshing at tool concerts in the states?
i've seen them three times when they toured here and everytime their audience was a hugely diverse crowd and no one moshed.... people just stood in the crowd and soaked it up..

The reason people get so uptight in these threads is because:
a.) The people starting these threads won't browse the already existing threads or (GASP!) use the search function. There's like 100 of these threads cluttering up the board. I feel like every other thread is one person talking about moshing, and then the usual suspects coming on and trying to convince that person that it just ain't gonna happen. Me included.
b.) It seems alot of the people starting these threads haven't been to Bonnaroo, and therefore don't understand the general atmosphere. It's way different from Coachella, and especially way different than a club or arena show. People actually look out for each other at Bonnaroo as opposed to everyday concerts where Joe Schmo Jerk Wad is allowed to run freely and act a fool. (Not that we can't do that here if we so choose, it's just that there's some semblance of respect for those around you here.)
and
c.) We've been spending a lot of time on here trying to create a good vibe in preparation for a weekend of good vibes, and for those of us who know this crap isn't going to happen, it brings in unnecessary bad thoughts, and repeated attempts at quelling it. And that just gets old. I can't speak for everybody though, so take that as you will.
Next we should be seeing a thread named something along the lines of "Will Terrorists Ruin the Roo?"
Nobody is going to ruin my Bonnaroo. If mosh pits happen, MOVE. There's a massive farm worth of space for you to separate yourself from people you don't like. Jump out of your comfort zone and go see Ralph Stanley or something. That is unless you're worried about a cattle stampede. Hehe.

Moshing takes away from the overall music experience, because, instead of listening, enjoying and taking in the music, I gotta worry about some punk@ss douche next to me who might potentially try and throw a punch my way or knock me over. It's unnecessary. Go to the back and mosh with a tree for all I care, just not around people.
i've been to pleeenty of shows with moshing, and the moshing is not going to happen everywhere. sooooo if there does happen to be some form of moshing, its just that particular person's form of doing w/e they feel like to the music, and if you dont like it you can move to a different spot, I personally don't think that it really fits in with the whole Bonnaroo vibe and whatnot, but to each their own

Once, I saw people moshing at a Delbert McClinton/Los Lobos concert in Knoxville! Nothing hardcore. Just a bunch of guys pushing each other around. It was really funny! Los Lobos were getting one hell of a kick out of it! They were laughing and pointing...and having alot of fun!
That being said, I really don't think that anyone needs to worry about any (serious) moshing at Roo!
Wolfmother is far from hardcore however, there are always jerk-offs who try to start a pit at their shows. I'm looking foward to my first moshless mother set.
The last place you will see moshing is at bonnaroo. You may see one or two dudes trying to mosh, or maybe just acting stupid trying to mosh, but never, ever, ever will you have to worry about a full blown mosh pit breaking out. It's just not gonna happen. It's not the right crowd. Bonnaroo is far more chill than your average local rock festival. The crowd is far more into mind expansion and not so big on fist expansion.

I propose an Inforoo Wall of Death.
I say we do this during Dierks Bentley but towards the stage...lol. Yeah I have actually seen this wall of death live at Ozzfest 3 years ago (I was working the beer stand), and it was during the Lamb of God show. Yeah I felt very sorry for those guys in the back, they had no idea what was coming.
"That's the big thing about education. People can be book smart, but not really intelligent about anything else. A lot of times they just taking in all this information and regurgitate it. It's much more important to process it and personalize it. To apply it to your world, to your life. You have to walk the walk, or you can't really report about it honestly."
At roo we all make our own way and find our own vibe... but tend to keep it on the inclusion-by-choice tip. I've seen naked people, muddy people, all kinds of people. But one thing I've never seen is violence. Plus, as stated above, it's a 700 acre farm dude... you can always walk away.
