just got out my new tent to set it up and seal the seams, now I cannot get it back in the bag, no way I try. It even has instructions for re-rolling it to get it back in, but it's not happening....any helpful tips?
I have a Coleman brand tent and the bag has a zipper on the bottom that expands the bag for putting it back in after it has opened. Just sit on it for a while and try to push all the air out.

I'll probably run into that problem, too (I can never get stuff back into it's containers....tarps, tents, sleeping bags....they're difficult!), and I'll be way too burnt out to deal with it on Monday. My plan is to either get a bigger bag or cut a slit in the side of the bag the tent came in and sew a strip of fabric a couple inches wide in there, to make the bag larger. Either way, problem solved
I've had a surprising amount of luck with this problem lately. I could never get my canopy back in the bag and always had to have my mom get it back in. She's awesome at stuff like this. I was expecting to bring it back a complete mess for her to get it back in and I had no trouble getting it back in on the farm monday morning.
I just bought a new tent. Set it up for the first time the other day and got it in the bag the first try. Of course now that I'm talking about how I've been doing good with this, tomorrow when I really go through my first practice camp set up run nothing will go back in the bag. O well.
i am sure i will have this problem tomorrow when i set up the new tent we just got in the mail for this years roo!
The method that always works for me...
After putting all the poles into their bag, fold the tent (usually thirds or in fourths) so that the width of the folded tent matches the length of the poles. Then roll the tent around the poles as tightly as possible. It should fit back into the bag after this.

My coleman bag is awesome. I would have to try really hard not to get it into bag. I just took it down last night and shoved everything back in along with about 16 of those massive tent stakes. I think it's because it does not have a zipper, just a big bag with a drawstring at the top. best tent I've ever owned.

I got it back in the bag, then realized I forgot to roll the rain cover up with it, so I just took it all out and put it in the bag I have from my 18x10 tent
As already stated, fold it to the length of the bag and get all the air out. I always wipe off the bottom as I'm rolling it too. The less grime you fold away with your tent, the longer it will last.
lol i had this problem today with the sleeping bags getting them into the bags they came in. finally got them in nice and crooked by a lot of shoving and swearing
I just had this problem with my new sleeping bag to. It goes in the bag ok, but then there's a zipper on the side to tighten it up. That sucker was damn near impossible.

my husband's has this on the side. When I finally got it in, I told him if he wants the zipper closed to go ahead and re-roll it. I gave up.
Kiddo's and mine don't have the zipper, so ours are in but the drawstring isnt that closed. I don't even remember why I wanted them in the bag now.
