so the day before the 11th I'm considering either getting a cheap motel about an hour away and heading there in the morning on Thursday or doing what my other friend is doing. Which is sleeping in my car outside of Wal-mart...haha So what is everyone doing the night before if they are traveling quite away from Bonnaroo?

Me and my crew usually stay at the Holiday Inn in Kimball, TN it is east of Roo on 24 about 45min away. We stay there on Wed night and leave at like 7am to get in line on Thursday. It has always worked out great for us.
Yeah they do but you may end up in BFE....although some say they have gone in Wednesday night and weren't in BFE. It would make logical sense to herd people in from back to front. IMO, going in on Wednesday night is too risky for getting put in BFE. I'd rather wait until Thursday morning/early afternoon to get in line.

Last year was my first Roo and we were at Walmart then got in the gates about 9pm on Wednesday night. We were in the southeast corner of the map if you look at it, in Camp Odd Job. We were about a 15 minute walk to the main entrance, and about 5 minutes to the entrance at the top of the hill that they open every so often.
the last two years, we stayed in Bristol because one of our group had family there. Last year it was at the La Quinta, which was something crazy low like $10-15 per person - and had free breakfast with a waffle maker.
We arrived around dinner time, had a nice dinner, got a full night's sleep and a final shower. Would hit a Wal-Mart on the way to pick up food, beer, ice & any forgotten supplies.
It's worked well for us - good way to break up the drive and not be overtired or cranky upon arrival. If we didn't have people to visit, would probably have driven another hour or so to be even closer.

I didn't know getting a hotel within a 30 mile radius of roo was possible during the festival time... wow... maybe i should check that out for the first night...

^^This. Well sort of. We are staying in the Motel 8 right up the road,in Kimball. Probably leave a little earlier than 7am but love that area none the less. A trip to Bonnaroo also means a trip to the Tennesse/Alabama Fire works store.

hey I'm looking for a hotel in Kimball as well. Do you mean the Super 8? Holiday Inn is kinda pricey... but... It'd be cool to meet up with someone before we head there (it's me and my friends first roo.. hehe)

I do. I do. I'm pretty sure there will be alot of people where ever you stay but I know we will be there. And I always love the meet up's. Let me know if you decide to do it.

I feel like I said this/told you already (short term memory... bad?) - but I ended up booking the Super 8 last night - it was the best I could find and a 45min drive looks good to me. So yay =]
I finally found a motel right off I 24 in Murfreesboro. Staying there for the 10th, and it's only 30 minutes away from 'roo.
Some of us who live or are staying in M'boro usually get together Wed night just to get the party started and meet a few Roosters early. Normally about 10-20 plan on being there and only 6-8 show up.
But this year no one has started the Wed Meet-up in M'boro thread so it seems enthusiasm is down. Feel free to start a thread ("M'boro Meet-up 2009" or the like. There's an old one here somewhere but...) I know several people coming in Wed. and I'll show if there is interest. Soulmate mentioned partying by the pool at her hotel but maybe the hotel didn't like that, or she's getting in late, as I've heard nothing in a while.

Just booked a hotel in M'boro as well. Wondering if anyone is interested in caravanning the rest of the way Thursday morning and combining camps. I've got this 14'x12' screen room that I don't want to bother any unsuspecting neighbors with.
I drove from Michigan and got to Manchester around 5-6 PM the night before Roo was going to open. Wal-Mart was so packed that the cops busted the whole place up and Roo opened that night around 8-9. Chances are that will happen this year also

was this last year?
I was at Walmart from 4pm-9pm when the gates opened, and I never saw a cop anywhere around Walmart
