Hey everybody!!!!! Less than 30 days to go!!!!! There's a lot on your mind right now but you need to keep focused. Don't forget the little stuff that seems big or the big stuff that can fall through the cracks.....
This next tip should hopefully be an easy one. I took care of all this yesterday, you guys should think about doing it soon:
Make sure your vehicle is ready to roll! You're about to head out on quite the roadtrip. Make sure you do everything in your power to ensure your vehicle will get to 'Roo AND back home again.
1. Check the spare tire, make sure it has air. Make sure the jack is operational and that you know, you know how to change the tire.
2. Get an oil change. I recommend one of those quicky-lube places because they'll also check all your fluids for you. Brakes, wipers, transmission, steering, etc.
3. Make sure all your lights are in working order (the last thing you want is to get pulled over because your license plate light was out)
4. Clean and vacuum your vehicle! Be 100% positive your little brother didn't pluck seeds onto the carpet.
5. Make for DAMN sure your inspection and plates are up to date.
6. Bring proof of insurance. In some states, if you get pulled over you'll need to have it. Is TN this way? Anybody?
7. Bring jumper cables. Oh, and along that line, once you're at Bonnaroo don't forget to START YOUR VEHICLE ONCE A DAY. That little dome light will suck the life right out of that battery.
So there ya go. Tip of the week vol.14. It's time to get your vehicle ready to go!

I'm pretty sure TN requires proof of insurance. I am positive that Arkansas does so make sure you have it if you're driving thru.
AR and TN also have the state law that requires drivers to pull into the left lane if an officer has someone stopped on the shoulder. They are very serious about this law. The result of not pulling over is a MAJOR fine and ticket.

And when you pull over, make sure you use your damn blinkers. I know someone that moved over because the officer had someone pulled over. The officer then came after him and gave him a ticket because he did not use his blinkers!

For anyone driving through Indiana, for whatever reason, they do require proof of insurance here as well.
Also, make sure you don't have any secret pipes or anything stashed in your vehicles. I haven't eaten any corn in months, but I was cruising to work the other day and found a hidden bowl that must have been there for a year or longer. haha. Glad I found it and not the popo. ;D

For oil changes, Wal-Mart is a good way to go. You can get a high-mileage option for $10 extra for those older clunkers, and they check all of your fluids for you and will let you know if there is a more serious problem you need to get checked out before you go.

Yes make sure your car is ready to go and clean. Not that this was my problem but I had an ex and his friends that would stash corn kernels and accoutrement around - in their clothes, in the seats, floorboards...oh a drag when the police decides to stop you. My ex was so smart he would leave corn tools (pipe) in his cargo pocket and always always forget it was there, which caused problems with the police not once not twice but three times. (hence why ex for many other reasons but you get the picture) Anywho -- my Toyota just went to the car doctor's today and needs some pricey work but it's worth it to have a safe and legit vehicle. Safe being the main word. I think most states now require proof of insurance and time of conversation with police. And do please try to pull into the next lane (SAFELY) if there is a police car and/or other stopped vehicle. We all want everyone to get where they need to go.
I still don't know if my Beetle will be the Roo vehicle or not but I went ahead and had the oil changed today and scheduled a light fix for next week (left blinker doesn't always work). Wiper blades good, new tires and new brakes last month, plates & emissions good until end of July, have insurance card and registration in the car....just need to clean the car out and I think I will do that here in a few minutes; finally check out the car wash/cleaning area at my apartment complex. Just signed my third lease here and I *still* have never used the car cleaning area
Thanks for the reminder though! My ex has both of my sets of jumper cables, so I'll need to grab some. And check the spare tire as well....it's there but it may need air....
