With the late shows and parties we need every second of sleep we can get. My only problem is when the sun starts to creep up, I get burned out of the tent very quickly. Last year I tried the car, the tent with no rain tarp(but ended up wet from the dew), and other random things. What do yall do so you can still sleep for those extra couple of hours in the morning? There are some other threads about shade a such but I can't seem to find anything just for your sleeping tent. Thanks!!!
put up a poll-supported dark-coloured tarp outside the tent to catch the morning sun, a good 3 feet or more from the tent so the wind can carry off the heat (make sure it'll cast a morning shadow on the tent), and spoon a battery-powered fan like it's Tom Brady's wife.

I bought a hanging tent fan I am hoping is going to help a lot, as well as a big silver tarp that I am hoping will reflect a lot of heat.... buy a few extra hours, anyway....

We hung a fan from the top of our tent last year and it seemed like even though it didn't directly cool us off, it did a decent job of circulating air in and out of the tent. Of course it was just a regular tent fan that we hung, not a cool little set up like this that blows down on you. We had other fans on the floor to blow right at us. You may want to add a fan or two for direct cooling on ground level, but the celing fan will make for a less stuffy tent anyways.

1) set up tent so one of the non-windowed sides is facing east 2) bungee/tape a reflective car-windshield sun blocker thing to the east side of the tent 3) use 2 10" fans, pointed at your face 4) get almost naked 5) wet washcloth on the face or forehead
that's my plan this year. if this can't keep me sleeping until 9-10am then I give up.

Bring a kiddie pool and bring 1 cooler full of just ice and put a bag or two along with water that you can get from the water stations. It sounds pretty relaxing...
although emptying the thing might lead to a bit of flooding. probably not good to do near tents. lol.
i've never tried this at roo, but we did have a kiddie pool at the wildhorse campground at the gorge for dave matthews band.
Get a battery powered tent fan. When you wake up in the morning drenched in sweat turn it on and point it right at yourself. It feels so good and you'll get at least another 30 minutes to an hour.
The battery-operated O2 Cool fans sold at Wal-Mart...get one and put it next to where you'll be sleeping. When the sun starts its relentless beating, roll over and turn it on. Ahhhhh...

Off topic but I've stayed at the Wildhorse Campgrounds and they are amazing people. We stayed at the Gorge campgrounds the first night, then left cuz we didn't have 2nd night tix. When we came back the second night, we were searched thoroughly, had our corn confiscated, then had our beer stolen while we sleeping next to the cooler. We went to Wildhorse the next day and I can't say enough of their hospitality. They even drove us around after the show on the third night so we could search for our drunk friend who was wondering the roads. Great people.

Earplugs and an eyemask. Helps me have a deeper, longer sleep so I don't realize how hot it is.
yeah the key is to stay asleep as long as possible without waking up, because once you wake up youre done for.
i always have earplugs, an eyemask is a great idea!!
my bf and i are bringin an 18" battery powered box fan this year, the plan is to bring extra batteries and run it all night in the tent.
last year it got so hot in our tents our whole group came out one by one and fell asleep on blankets under the shade tent, people were lying on the table, under the table, passed out in chairs... 14 sleeping people crammed under two shade tents had to have been funny to see.
^^ We did that also, I tried to sleep out there last year but I got wet from the dew one and I also felt like people were just standing there watching me sleep. We were in route to the portos so we were sitting on a well traveled path in BFE.

Can't emphasize how important this tip is...as SOON as you hit your parking spot, figure out which way is east. Set your EZ-Ups and your tarps facing that way, and put your tents etc. up on the western side. This will buy you a solid two hours respite from that ridiculous TN sun in the AM.

I'll agree with most of the advice above.... and add an important piece.
1. Shade. Make sure your tent is shaded, especially on the East side. 2 Tent fan. The hanging fans are okay. The O2 cool fans from Wally World are better. I use both. 3. Earplugs! I've never tried an eyemask, but that's a good idea. 4. Better living through chemistry. I have a prescription for Ambien. If you can't get Ambien..... NyQuil works wonders. You will wake up in a pool of sweat, but you will be rested.

I was gonna suggest pills. I'll bring some along, but I'm not all that concerned about sleep at Roo, I have a 10 hour ride home, then two more days off from work. I may not even sleep for those four days.
I bought a hanging tent fan I am hoping is going to help a lot, as well as a big silver tarp that I am hoping will reflect a lot of heat.... buy a few extra hours, anyway....
Bought this and used it last year. I'm bringing it again, but it didn't help as much as I thought it would. I would suggest getting one for each person in the tent, and doing what the guy said with the spooning and Gisele Bunchen or whatever.

I opened this thread to talk about this cool fan I found on Amazon... Looks like I was beat to the punch! I got two, as the single fan last year was impossible to cool two people!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

I sleep in a hammock, and take a battery powered fan with me. Sleeping off the ground helps keep me cooler cause air can get all around me I guess. Then when the sun pops up and starts to heat up the camp site I just sit the fan in my lap and point it toward my face. I always sleep longer than everyone else when I do this.

I really like the idea of getting two of these, actually - one for each of the two of us in my tent. I don't know why, but I hadn't thought of that. Crunchies, man!!!
