Derek Webb is one of my favorite musicians. He's in the process of putting out a new album but is having trouble with his label due to 'questionable content.'
He sent out an email today:
friends- this is turning into a bigger deal than we expected. as a result, we're having to temporarily _pull everything online down (can't explain now). and to be on the s_afe side, i'm going to pe_rsonally go offline while we sort this out. i re_ally shouldn't use my twitter account for now either so _don't expect any updates there.
make no m_istake, our trouble with the label over content i_s very real, and not as simple as one word; we're back_ed into a corner. but we have applied all of our creative resources to th_is, working furiou_sly to create something that we believe not only subverts any leg_al issues but should also be a _pretty wild ride.
so this will be the l_ast email for a while. we'll t_ry to lea_k information via a new tw_itter account, @ssyndrome. you're o_n your own so start payin_g attention. i'l_l see you _on the o_ther side- derek
The underscores looked questionable to me, and upon further inspection I found out that they spell out 'paradise is a parking lot'. So I typed in www.paradiseisaparkinglot.com and found something new!
Now it says to visit Ugly Mugs in Nashville and ask for a "Stockholm Latte" to get the code. I'm in Indiana! Someone help me!
I called them. You have to leave a message? WTF? I left my cell number for them to call me back. I would go, but it is close to downtown and I have to go to work. Will let you know if they call back.

This is awesome. I'm very intrigued... especially since it's difficult to see how much more controversial Derek's music can get, considering all the eyebrow-raising and label-changing he's already done. I can't wait to hear the new music.
EDIT: So wouldn't you know it, but his wikipedia entry has a lot of new info on this mystery:
On this website, viewers are instructed to physically go to Ugly Mugs Coffee & Tea in East Nashville and ask for a "Stockholm Latte." When the "Stockholm Latte" is received, an artifact is also given. On the artifact is a code, which should be emailed to: verify@ssyndrome.info
When all 5 artifacts are found and verified, their audio contents will be available to all, thus releasing Stockholm Syndrome to the general public.
Sounds like we need more than one person to go Ugly Mugs...
Do you think it's like the first five people to ask for this latte are given an artifact? Or will only certain artifacts be one of the five, you think?
I think its the first five. I've been following 'ssyndrome' on twitter and they just posted "the 5th of 5 articifacts has been claimed" about 15 minutes ago
