BFE is generally a 30+ minute walk depending on how fast you decide to go. I generally get up when I can't sleep anymore, eat something that seems nutritious, refill my camelback and set out to wander for a while. I end up walking for 4 hours or so before I decide to enter Centeroo itself. Stages are at most 10 minutes apart, and at least 1 minute. BFE isn't bad at all though, its quiet and generally pretty dark at night time, minus those bright ass lights that light the walkways. I have been there twice and if I wasn't going alone would do it again.
Last year I was in Camp V that to me was BFE as last year they didn't put but 20 people in the whole lot. The walk would haven't been bad but they had the side entrance to Centeroo blocked until Saturday which was terrible needing to walk all the way around centeroo adding 15 + to the walk. And like it said above quite and dark. We had a whole field and lt was relaxing.

I was out in deep BFE in 2007, it was about a 30-40 min. walk to Centeroo. As jwkeene says above, it wasn't really that bad...very quiet at night, no big lights, plus we had a good amount of space to setup camp. I figured we walked over 18 miles just back and forth from camp.
What I do is this: Hang out at camp until you are motivated by something to go up to Centeroo, then stay there all day. At some point, go back to camp, change clothes, get any supplies you need, and then go back out for the rest of the evening. This limits your flexibility a little but it's a pretty good system, it ends up limiting the big walk to 2 round trips.

I do this but take it a step further. The last two years I go into Centeroo for the first band I want to see (usually before 1pm). Then stay the whole time. Sometimes sleeping in Centeroo (in movie tent or something) before going back to my camp in the morning. I get all the things I need and just live in Centeroo for a while. Last year we only had like a 15-20 minute walk and I still liked staying in Centeroo all day long.

The girlfriend and I did the same thing last year. We just gathered up everything that we needed for the day and headed off for Centeroo when we were ready. If we needed to crash somewhere, we'd find some shade or hang out in the Cinema Tent. We also caught a bunch of comedy shows, which was pretty refreshing in itself.
I can't imagine that there's a lot that you'll need for the day anyway, so just hang out in Centeroo once you get there.
As far as the walking time, 30-50 minutes is about right depending on your pace, but remember that there are taxi's going back and forth from BFE to Centeroo all the time. It costs money, but sometimes the quick trip is worth it. Plus, all the volunteers that are driving the taxis are awesome and make for an interesting experience as well.

by the way, the Comedy Tent is a GREAT escape from the heat and crowds of Centeroo. It is air conditioned, and if there is no acts you really want to see and are just hanging out in Centeroo, go in there for a show (usually about an hour+)
We saw Louis CK twice last year to do this. He was a good show, and getting out of the heat for a bit is nice if you don't have anything to see and dont't wanna hike back to camp.
