Anyone who went last year, how scarce were extra tickets floating around? Do you think I'll have a problem finding a cheap ticket when I get down there?
Will you be more disappointed if you pay around face price ahead of time, get your ticket, and find them cheaper when you get there OOOORRRR roll the dice and get down there to find tickets are scarce or incredibly expensive due to a sell out?

I don't know that last year would be the best year to compare to, since that was one of their lowest years in ticket sales. My guess is within a week or a few days of the festival, Roo will announce that it has "Sold Out!" and no more tickets will be sold by Superfly.
But you could definitely join the several others and possibly be successful in walking the lines of cars to get in in search of extras, and possibly get a good deal on it too!
But I mean, if you have the money now to get one I'd say just go ahead and do it. Who knows what'll happen when the time comes.
I'm always for one just locking things up. Then again, my trip is also the better part of a day. Plus, then you know what you're paying now. You could end up paying more when you get down there, ya know?
Yeah, I have seen them on craigslist & ebay for about $200. You might be able to get tix in line but I wouldn't chance it, especially if you are travelling far to get there.

Id rather have mine locked up before I hit the road however I am more of an over planner than most so..

I had a friend who went with us last year and he set up with someone in town that was selling their ticket and agreed to sell it to him. When we got there he tried to get a hold of the person and their roommate informed him that he/she had already sold the ticket to someone else. Luckily we were able to find him another, but if we hadn't he would of traveled from Florida with no where to go. I say buy it now. I know there are some tickets on Stub Hub for 233 or at least there were earlier today.
The first several years I got my ticket in line. Just parked at the store at Exit 111 and walked the traffic asking who had an extra. I could always find one for $50-$100. That being said, Phish is back together, counterfeiters are around now, ticket cost more and Roo is more popular that the first few years so...
I buy mine during early sales just to save the hassle.
If you do try and get one in line best to do what I did and buy from someone in a vehicle in line as they are more desperate and less likely to have counterfeit ones.
yea for sure, if you can swing it now, I'd buy one before you get there.... I'd also suggest the craigslist/ebay route, which will be your best bet and not much different than what you'll find when you get into Manchester.
Just about every person here will tell you to get your ticket beforehand. If it were any other way, we'd be getting our tix from the car line at discount too! All I can tell you is my story. Last year I chatted with a guy who scored a ticket walking the car line for about $180. He searched for less than an hour. I wouldn't draw any grand conclusions from n=1 though. Being a betting man, I'd say you should be able to repeat that accomplishment if you stand near the main gate. Do you believe me? If you do, maybe 500 others will believe me too and ruin your chances! The other insider's tip is to try to get in the back entrance. There are houses along that little road. All the residents receive free wristbands in exchange for no complaints over the car line in front of their houses for a day and a half. Some sell them rather than going.
Well, when tickets ship, there will be a number on the back that corresponds with whatever number ticket they sold you - so the earlier you bought your ticket, the lower your number would be. At least that's how they did it last year.
If we can find someone who bought their ticket recently, it should give us a better idea as to how close to 80,000 we are. Honestly, I'm really not expecting a sell-out this year, despite the fact that this is one of the best lineups Roo has ever had (band for band, rivaled only by 2006, IMO). A lot of people just can't afford it right now.

Plus you can write down their make, model & plate number if they sell you a bogus ticket.
if its sold out or not you will be able to get a ticket for face value. with around 80000 people there are going to be a decent amount of people with extra tickets because people always back out. i would think that a decent amount of these people would sell for face value just so they can get rid of the ticket and not have to worry....and because not everyone would be trying to make money off a fellow festival goer.
If you take a ticket off someone's hands just before the gate, you will get a discount. If anything, there's a paucity of buyers rather than sellers. Just about all people heed Juggernaut's warning.
