There's been a lot of chatter lately regarding how to keep your camping gear and such safe from rogue wookies during bonnaroo. In my opinion there's nothing more safe than your vehicle. If you're in the 90% majority that is camping at your vehicle then, well, keep all your valuables locked in said vehicle.
Now let's say you don't know if your buddies will be responsible enough to remember to lock the car.... or not lose the key.... or whatever... you need another option. Another scenario is tent only. How can you keep your stuff safe? Pisgah's got the answer.
Step one. Gather this stuff: A locking bin.( I use the 'Smart Bin' by Greene Horizon. I got it from the automotive section at Wal Mart). Two dog tie-outs. Two locks (I know, there's only one pictured). 12-18" chain.
Be very careful not to crush your fingers.... Sledge hammer the end of one tie-out closed:
Still being carefull...... Close the second tie-out. However, thread the chain into this one first.:
Next, screw the tie-out with the chain into that hard Tennessee dirt:
Then screw the other tie-out...ummm.... in.... and run the chain through it.:
Take your two locks and lock the chain to the bin and the two tie-outs together (this will make it so no-one can twist the screws out of the Earth):
Elegant and simple. Me likey! I need to keep a Baby Taylor guitar locked up somehow, and don't want it to cook in the car. This might work for me since I have a big bin just like that and should have enough shade to keep it out of the sun.
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
