You need to remember that come Saturday, the bags of ice you buy at Roo will be half-melted, more than likely. You also need to account for the distance from the ice purveyor and the weather that day. Sometimes you only get 1\3 a bag of FROZEN ice.

I never had this problem last year. I always went right to the refrigerated truck to get my ice and it was completely frozen everytime.
The ice was $3.00 bag and I never had a problem with half-melted bags. Just be sure to find out the hours they are selling ice. I recall they stopped selling pretty early in the evening (maybe 7:00)?

Can you imagine the profit those people make from selling ice? I remember them constantly throwing ice down that ramp in 2004. They couldn't sell it fast enough because the ice melted by the time people got back to their camp.

It's not that expensive. If you think about it, they could charge 3 times that and people would still pay it. I think that they have kept the price pretty resonable.

crunchie to 1karen1...she's right. they could charge 2x what they do and people would still pay it. they keep ice prices extremely reasonable IMHO. i've never had a problem with purchasing a 1/2 melted bag either...each morning we'll get 1 or 2 of the big bags, fill up the coolers and be good for the day (at least). it could be MUCH worse.
edit: i should mention that 2 bags would take care of all coolers at our site of 12-15 people and 6 or so coolers
