well i have been gone for a few days but just wanted to say happy b-day to Bob dylan (may 24th) Bob is now 63 and still rocking the house with more then a hundred shows a year!
yeah still one of the best live shows. tore it up in detroit for three great shows this past march
LOL. I've heard that his shows are terrible from multiple people. I have also heard that Dylan admits that the only reason he continues to play shows is to pay for what he owes his ex wife/wives.
today my friend Tim turned 21 and it is also my other friend Billy's (soon to be a ROOkie) birthday, which happens to be why I am rather hung over today

I know this is my first post on this board, I have been lurking for years. I have read a lot of posts on this board, and never really felt the need to write anything back. Anyway, this post is beyond dumb! Sorry, I don't want to start off on a bad foot here, but you really think that? Really? I will be the first 1 to admit that Dylan doesn't sound that great anymore, but he still brings the heat. People really need to get over the fact that Dylan does NOT sound like he did in the past. Trust me, he understands that, to him that sound is old and gone. Also, Dylan isn't on the road to pay his ex-wife's. About 10/11 years ago, he found a new love for the road, and has never really stop since then. He talks about it almost every interview he does. Tell your friends to stop tell lies about go ol' Bobby!

Welcome to the boards! Well said, and for that, have some Crunchies!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.

Wow you seem like someone I would really like. Great start if you ask me.
I have seen Bob twice in 06 and 07 and I enjoyed both shows. The 06 show was not the highest quality though granted I blame alot of that on the fact that it was in a hockey arena. THe second show which was in a much nicer venue was really good. Plus he has one of the better bands touring today. I am very excited that I am going to be able to see him at least once this summer. Even better the shows are GA and Willie Nelson and John Melloncamp are opening

I have seen Dylan about 12 times, maybe a little less. And IMO, I am just happy that a man like that loves to play live. He truly loves it, and still pushes to get better. The man took singing lessons a few years ago, due to his changing voice. His backing band is nearly perfect, and his new songs are very touching and moving still. It's not a nolstagic (sp?) act that is out, trying to squeeze every little bit of money that he can out of people. He has enough to never have the need to pick up a guitar again.

I am one of those posters who thinks dylan is one of the top 3 worst live performers I have ever witnessed and I have seen 100's of shows just name the band and I have seen it. I have seen dylan 4 times and each time I couldn't believe how bad it was. I think Dylan is the greatest lyricist songwriter of the last 50 years but every time I saw him perform my 2 thoughts were, "does he know he's onstage playing in front of thousands of people, or is this the effects of corn after 50 years" I saw him 3 more times to give the man more chances thinking I just got some bad shows but seriously he is horrible on stage and its a trainwreck to watch. I still listen to his music and respect the man for what he's done but he is a show I avoid and will not make the mistake of seeing again. His band is great live I can't knock the players in his band they performed great its just Dylan was not a stage performer and I'm not knocking older artists I love springsteen and a list of classic artists live but Dylan I just have to warn people about I feel like its an obligation of my 4 bad experiences.
I just got home from Dylan Days in Hibbing, MN, an annual celebration of all things Bob. My dad, Gene LaFond, and his band, The Wild Unknown played with Scarlet Rivera, Dylan's violinist on Desire in the Hibbing High School auditorium. They also played last Thursday night at the Cabooze in Minneapolis. Both shows were awesome! They tore it up!
Reports in South Wales of a possible 2014 Bob Dylan Thomas collaboration:
BOB DYLAN is considering a gig in Swansea to mark the centenary of Dylan Thomas's birth in 2014, parliament has heard.
Geraint Davies, Labour MP for Swansea West, mentioned the possibility during a discussion in the commons.
A host of Dylan Thomas-related events will take place in Wales next year to mark the centenary.
Mr Davies said: "Bob Dylan named himself after Dylan Thomas. We in Swansea will celebrate the centenary of Dylan Thomas's birth in 2014, and I have asked Bob Dylan whether he would be prepared to give a centenary concert in Swansea, in order that he could blend his music with Dylan Thomas's poetry.
"Would the Leader of the House welcome such a concert, and does he agree that it would add to the reputation of Swansea, the popularity of Bob Dylan and the legacy of Dylan Thomas? Also, would the Leader of the House be interested in coming along, or is his answer "Blowing in the Wind"?
In reply, Leader of the House Andrew Lansley said: "I am very grateful to the hon. Gentleman. If I can attend, I will do so, and I will look forward to it.
"Perhaps others will join me. Many who come from Swansea might contemplate revisiting it.
"My hon. Friend, the Member for New Forest East (Dr Lewis) is from Swansea, as is the First Deputy Chairman of Ways and Means—and, indeed, the outgoing Archbishop of Canterbury."
