Dear Everyone-Who-Happens-To-Read-This,
I know you're all used to showing up at 8:30 or 9PM for concerts that started at 7. It's understandable. You're there to see YOUR band and you're showing up when you think they're gonna play, right? Well, starting on Thursday July 16th at Marymoor Amphitheatre in Redmond, Washington, that's all going to change.
Ladies and Gentlemen, at 7:15PM, when the curtain goes up on The Saturday Night Rebel Rockers Traveling Circus & Medicine Show, Augustana AND Counting Crows are all going to be walking out onstage together and that show is going to start with EVERY SINGLE ONE OF US onstage singing and playing our brains out. We'll do a few songs together and then it may be Counting Crows that plays the first set alone. I don't know exactly how the shows going to run every night. It'll definitely be different a few days later in Friant, CA when Michael Franti & Spearhead join up. It'll probably be different every night. The only thing I know for sure is that EVERY show on this tour is going to start with EVERYONE onstage together and we're going to all be running on & off stage all night playing on each others songs and playing songs all together and basically just playing whenever we feel like playing. So you get my point, right?

They are all playing in Clearwater the week I will be in St. petersburg - but when I checked the ticket prices - they want $72.50 for tickets. That doesn't include all the outrageous ticketmaster fees. Way too much money for me to pay to see Counting Crows
Franti did just rupture his appendix or something......had to cancel dates. I'd look into which dates if I had tickets.
Last night was his first night back. He had played two weeks with a ruptured apendix before they knew what was wrong. He was so happy to be back and playing in the Ryman.

What was the show like, Druid? How was it set up? I'm trying to decide whether to go to it Friday, but leaning towards not right now. I love Franti and Spearhead almost enough to make me go regardless of what it's like. I'm indifferent to Counting Crows, but maybe it's a little syrupy pop for me. And Augustana...well, I didn't like it when it was called Coldplay, either.
So I guess I'm wondering if, given that, the show would be something you think I'd like or not. Would I be paying 40 bucks to see 45 mins of Spearhead and otherwise be annoyed for 2 hours?
It did not start on time, despite the e-mail to the contrary. But that was Ok. I made a friend with the Vanderbilt ICU Doctor that was sitting next to me. She shared some good stories about what they see Bonnaroo weekend
I am not a huge Counting Crows fan. Can take them or leave them. I did not have a clue who Augustana was until I heard Boston. They all come out together and jam for the first few songs. They really do a good job of it. Got the crowd on their feet dancing. Then they each take turns. They come out and help each other on quite a few numbers. Lots of mingling and mutual love. I was entertained through out. Of course when Michael come out the place was on FIRE. He was so happy to be over the whole appendix rupture thing. He did the most interacting with the crowd.

I was never annoyed. And believe me, I ususally HATE opening acts. On that accord I am very closed minded, and I should not be. But this was a beautiful merge of all their music styles. The people on both sides of me decided to leave early, leaving plenty of room for me and the fellow down the row to dance our hearts out. And we did ;D

Ok, I'm reconsidering now Druid. If it was in town, I'd be there no matter what, but since it's not we'll have to get someone to watch the dog and find an open campground nearby so I needed to be sure it would be worth all that. Thanks for the info.
