I didn't want the 6-LP Score for Back to the Future but was thinking about the soundtrack to the first movie. Did those all sell out immediately too? Were they limited?
Is anyone else spluring on 99 Love Songs' re-release? I want it so bad but... $99?
6 pieces of vinyl, so about $16/slab, and I bet the packaging is nice too. So the price is "reasonable", if you think of it that way. I used to love that album a while back but I won't be spending $100 for another heavy box I have to store.
Elusive Disc is selling a limited color-version of the boxed set...

My new Order box set is on the way.. Hoping it comes signed. Only 200 will. I really do think it's up there with Tame Impalas "Currents" for album of the year. Both have the best Bundle options on their vinyl too for display. Loving my framed lenticular prints for the "Currents" album.
Talk sense in me folks. I keep making a cart for this and really can't afford it this go round. $60 for a test pressing that I already own and would just hang on my wall.

for me any physical possession that brings you joy is worth having. when you hold this record in your hands will it bring you joy? the intrinsic value of the record itself contributes to this, but also the circumstances surrounding the purchase, including the opportunity cost of said purchase. Would you get more joy out of a show ticket, a nice dinner, or three other less expensive records? Maybe not, I'm certainly not saying that is the case, but its a question worth asking.
Probably more information than you were asking for, especially coming from a guy that just spent $200 on a test pressing made up entirely of cat samples.

This is the place that tried to convince Monie that Colorado was on the way from Ohio to Texas and that she should stop to see some MMJ. Think you're asking the wrong people

Yea, we're only going to help you rationalize why you SHOULD buy it.
If it's something limited or really rare I say buy it and enjoy it. If money troubles come up then it should be worth a bit more after you buy it so there's always that option to keep in the back of your mind. I spend more than I should on limited vinyl and posters but it does give me a sense of joy when I get it and hold it and know it's mine.

I may end up skipping black friday record store day for the first time in years. There isn't anything I NEED to buy and between money troubles and the 4-night MMJ run happening around that time I may just take it easy this year. I think there was an MGMT release I was interested in and a few other things that are neat but not really "must have" for me. Not worth it to wake up super early, wait in line, and deal with the crowds.

I think I'm going to go but I agree... this year's list is very bad compared to past RSD's....
i wandered into half price books after getting some things at michael's today and ended up leaving with thriller and to pimp a butterfly. i now have a grand total of five records in my collection.

Depending on the other 3 records, you could be the John Cazale of collecting vinyl.

the other three are purple rain, black messiah and private dancer. i think i'm off to a pretty good start.

Oh yeah, definitely. My John Cazale comparison was a compliment! He only was in 5 movies before he died of cancer - Godfather, Godfather II, The Deer Hunter, Dog Day Afternoon, and The Conversation - and every one of them was nominated for Best Picture.
Anyone a Third Man fan? It looks like I'll be headed to Detroit in 3 weeks and I plan to stop at Third Man's new storre. Is there any new vinyl worth grabbing there or is all the same stuff I can buy online or my local record store?

I've decided I wanted to get more into vinyl, so over the course of the weekend I've upgraded my record player and picked up In the Aeroplane Over the Sea, Rumours, and a few George Carlin albums. It's been a good weekend.
Also that Kickstarter that ITM linked to is now live:
It's crazy, just the other day I was looking all over the place for a good way to store records, and then this falls in my lap. Wonderful.
