I really need to start buying more vinyl. I think we only have 4 albums so far since getting a turntable for Christmas. That is pretty sad.
You should do family trips to any local shops that may be near you. Let your kids each pick out one weird used one or some junk. It's always fun to browse around.

This is a fantastic idea. My kids always go with me to shops here in Nashville but I've never thought to let them pick something out of the bargain bin just for fun.

I hear you. I started building a collection, but have had to put the brakes on for some time now. Hoping to get back into regular buying soon. Luckily, we have the rest of our lives
Ikea has another version but I purchased two of these and they are perfect for holding vinyl. You could put the record player on top, but it would depend upon height and how high/low you want your record player. They are very sturdy, though. I purchased the white version and they have lasted great the last 12 months since the purchase. The worst part is putting them together... but they are not too bad.

I've been running out of room in my main vinyl shelf/holder thing for a while. I just bought a small plastic crate to separate some things from the main collection. I figured after all the Vault stuff and various White Stripes releases I could take the Jack White/White Stripes stuff out and put it in this other crate.
The question is....do I just move the White Stripes/Jack White (solo) stuff? Or should I include Dead Weather/Raconteurs and other Third Man stuff in the separate box?

I'd keep all the Jack White stuff, including side projects, in the same place. The way I see it if you are in the mood for Jack White it'd be best to have all his projects in a single place.
My copy of the reissue of Van Morrison's It's Too Late to Stop Now... just filled up my second shelf. That's two 1'x1'x1' shelves full and a separate smaller shelf for 7" records that's almost full.
I bought Cold Roses over the weekend, so I now own 4 full length records & 1 ep. So sad on my part.
Cold Roses, Heartbreaker, and JCN are all great albums to have on vinyl. Ryan's music lends itself to the vinyl medium IMO.
I think its better to grow your collection at a steady pace rather than just buying up a ton of records you'll never listen to. I bought a lot of vinyl lots on eBay when I first got into records, just because I was excited about the hobby and was chasing quantity. I ended up with a lot of records in really poor condition. Didn't spend a lot of money but it's a pain in the ass having shelves full of records you can't listen to nor sell. Many of them I ended up giving to a friend who used the covers in art projects, I was just glad someone found a use for them.
I've spent the past couple of years whittling down my collection, trading what I could at the local shop. I'm pretty happy with where I'm at right now, I can generally reach into my collection and pull out an album I'd be happy to listen to.
I pre-ordered Yield. I never really got into No Code. I need to go back and listen to it more.
I think Vs. is still my favorite but No Code may be next.
Vitalogy is my #1 with Ten probably #2. I love Vs., though. I think I love all their albums except No Code and Lightning Bolt (which is mainly because I haven't listened to them much).

I think you should definitely listen to it more. I haven't listened to Lightning Bolt that much myself.
The three month plan is not bad, too... you can switch their pick of the month for another album in their store if you don't like their selection for the month.
