Pre-ordered Chunky Shrapnel through Bandcamp (sold out through Flightless and way more expensive anyway) and got Dacus - Historian through Matador.
The record stores in Houston are all doing curbside, and a smaller one has opened to 4 customers a time in store, but they're not super convenient for me to get to so I'll probably just go to a couple and get something once everything's more open.
I was wondering if we have any European needs in here.
I've spent the past few years trying to get my hands on the Black Sabbath '10 Year War' box set. It's basically the Ozzy years and a few 7"s plus a usb stick containing all 8 albums and a 40 some odd page book.
I can't find anyone in the States that imports it and if a copy does go up, it's sold immediately. There seems to be more action in Europe (its a European pressing) but I can find anyone to ship it to me. The box is super heavy and no matter how much I throw, they end up canceling an order.
I'm wondering if any of you guys over there have came across this used?
E: I'm also apparently getting all 5 of my BEHEXEN represses today. These things are so so fucking pretty. Debemur Morti always does a great job but really outdid themselves on these.
I picked this RSD whatever year this was and it’s amazing.
Good to hear! I have a few Dungen LPs and they're mixed quality. All decent and listenable but the Subliminal Sound versions definitely sound better than the others from Mexican Summer.

All five got here yesterday (finally). While I know this band isn't in the gambit of most people here, I just wanted to show these as I'm so incredibly in awe of how pretty these are.
It helps this is one of my favorite bands from that era and Debemur Morti killed it with these. There's also posters, DL cards and booklets packed in those sleeves.
Just got the super sweet red/black marble pressing of QOTSA's Songs for the Deaf, released by Vinyl Me Please. Looks beautiful and got it at the normal price of $40!
Also had my Brian Jonestown Massacre Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? (White-Purple Splatter) come in, and Soundgarden Louder Than Love on Orange.

They even mailed me a pack of DUNE trading cards.
Horns up, kids. Horns the fuck up.
That is some sweet splatter, especially on the fourth one

I'm not planning on buying anything just yet but saw my normal store advertising these "kits" and wanted to share them here. For those that know more about the hardware how do these deals look? Decent? Not worth it?

All that hardware looks good. Can’t go wrong with Audio Technicas and those speakers are solid. Didn’t add everything up but the price seems to be fair, not a bargain but it’s all stuff you’d need at a small discount.
All the packages are about what I've seen online. I like the fact it's local. That's probably more important in this day and age than free shipping.
Yeah, this place is the main store I hit up for Record Store Day for years. There's a few other small places around me but this one is a great one. Though, the first year I went was rough as they just opened the gates and let anyone come in and buy anything without any limits. Saw dudes picking up 4 copies of a rare release just to flip. But they've fixed that since then and it's always really smooth.
I'm not sure I'm going to be buying any package but I was definitely intrigued by possibly grabbing something. I have a very basic turntable and okay speaker set up so will need to upgrade at some point.
I have an LP 120 that I swear by. I was gonna upgrade and then decided to blow my money on a new receiver and floor speakers. Best decision I made.
I'd go the "Rock Star" package but if that's outta your price range, I know plenty of people that have a 60X that love them.

I'd personally go with the LP120 if you can too - very solid turntable, and the speakers in that rock star package is a very dynamic set for most peeps starting out.
And yes, supporting your local shop is super key - always do if you can!
Porridge Radio - Every Bad (Blue Edition) Bonobo - Animal Magic (Yellow Edition) Tricky - Maxinquaye (180g reissue) Brian Jonestown Massacre - This Is Our Music (White-Red-Blue Splatter) King Gizzard - Polygondwanaland (4-Way Color) King Gizzard - Infest the Rats Nest (Black & Red U.S. Edition) Crumb- Jinx (Yellow Indie Edition) Twin Peaks - Lookout Low (Chicago Electric Blue) Chelsea Wolfe - Birth of Violence (Red & Black Galaxy) Drab Majesty - The Demonstration (Clear Green)
And ill be heading out to my favorite record shop in SD tomorrow 5o do some browsing now that they are open again!
Hey Delicious Meatball Sub, have you ever been to HR Records? I know nothing about this shop (appears to have popped up over the past few years) but it has an amazing jazz and soul selection.

Definitely adding this to the "When I can Safely Travel Again" list.
Ya it’s a great spot. I went in there right before lockdown started and got a whole pile of stuff. Bunch of Donald Byrd projects, the Crusaders, Water Babies, Deodato ... Great haul.
The recent killings of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Sean Reed, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery and the ongoing state-sanctioned violence against black people in the US and around the world are horrific tragedies. We stand with those rightfully demanding justice, equality, and change, and people of color everywhere who live with racism every single day, including many of our fellow employees and artists and fans in the Bandcamp community.
So this coming Juneteenth (June 19, from midnight to midnight PDT) and every Juneteenth hereafter, for any purchase you make on Bandcamp, we will be donating 100% of our share of sales to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, a national organization that has a long history of effectively enacting racial justice and change through litigation, advocacy, and public education. We’re also allocating an additional $30,000 per year to partner with organizations that fight for racial justice and create opportunities for people of color.
The current moment is part of a long-standing, widespread, and entrenched system of structural oppression of people of color, and real progress requires a sustained and sincere commitment to political, social, and economic racial justice and change. We’ll continue to promote diversity and opportunity through our mission to support artists, the products we build to empower them, who we promote through the Bandcamp Daily, our relationships with local artists and organizations through our Oakland space, how we operate as a team, and who and how we hire.
Beyond that, we encourage everyone in the Bandcamp community to look for ways to support racial equality in your own local community, and as a company we’ll continue to look for more opportunities to support racial justice, equality and change.
I was going to swing by my local record shop to pick up my copy of Lady Gaga “Chromatica” tomorrow (since they sold out last week and didn’t get any in until today) along with “exposure” by Robert Fripp. But I’m happy to note that since the store is still (wisely) doing by-appointment store browsing sessions, they are actually filled up until Friday, at which point I have 15 minutes to browse to myself in the early afternoon. The fact that they’re booked up, and that they actually offer this service... I think it’s awesome. They’re doing great business in this whole thing!

We're still not in Phase 2 yet and my record store says they won't be open even then. They have the entire store on Discogs and they deliver.
I do look forward to digging though. It's therapeutic for me to zone a bit.

I am so into booking in-store appointments. Other than the rare stores where both customers and store employees are eager to discuss music, most of the time I'm just dodging dudes checking Discogs prices on their phones.

I've been so good about not buying vinyl recently, due to saving money for a move and a wedding fund, but I finally caved and bought my fiance every Big Thief album on vinyl for her birthday. Little does she know, they're actually for "us."
One of my white whales popped on Discogs. One dude from Greece has 4 copies.
FML. Do I order the Sleep album and hope we get overseas mail soon or do I wait. I'm really lost here.
I caved. I got a PO Box and less to worry about after my address changes this month. Excited doesn't cover it. There were only 420 made and sold out instantly.
