Anyone know where to order an out-of-stock ground wire? I need one for a silver colored Technics table (specifically the SL-Q350) that is, ideally, like 8 feet long. I want to move my turntable and my current ground wire isn't long enough.
I've also tried grounding it to an unused pre-amp and plugging that into the same power strip as my receiver but it didn't seem to work. Nor did rearranging the cables. It seems like the ONLY thing that will prevent the table from humming is grounding to the receiver.
You can use any old speaker wire for a ground wire, nothing special about it. You don't need the lug, but it's easy enough to attach one if you want to for convenience. So I'd just order some cheap speaker wire from monoprice or Amazon.
But if you really want a technics ground cable you could check out kabusa. His site looks like it's from the late 90s but he's legit, a total technics psycho.

Dang, I tried to go to their site and it redirects to westslopeorganics.com. Any idea if Kabusa is still running somewhere?
And yea I figured I'd just bring the wire to an audiophile shop in Chicago and have them build me a new one, worse comes to worse. It's probably cheaper than buying a spool of wire and wire cutters and easier than opening my table up to hook it on there.

oh wow, i just went to the site last night and it was fine, but i checked again and got the same redirect. not sure what is going on there.
not sure what your connectors are like on your TT and receiver, but you might be able to just use bare wire if it's a standard screw in type ground connector.

Whoa! So weird. I'll try that site again in a few days and see if comes back online.
My table has an actual port for the ground. If it was just an exposed post I'd be happy to fix it myself. And I could definitely splice my current ground tip onto a longer wire but it'd be quicker, easier, and cheaper to just order a longer wire if such a thing existed.

Looking for some feedback on a few things, TIA.
- What online stores do you recommended for purchasing vinyl? I'm going to check some local Philly stores (Repo, Brewery Town Beats), but I have a rather large list I'm looking to cross off over these next few weeks. Wondering where I would be able to pick up the majority of these records that isn't Walmart or Amazon.
-I'm planning to buy some new speakers, and leaning towards floor speakers. The reviews & price point on these Klipsch Reference Premier 6000 look pretty solid (https://www.crutchfield.com/p_714RP6000W/Klipsch-Reference-Premiere-RP-6000F-Walnut.html). If anyone has other speakers at a similar price point they recommend I'd love to check them out. Side note - I'm wondering how much my home theater received will hold me back. It's an Onkyo ht r330, nothing fancy, looks like it pushes 100 watts per channel, and the Klipsch towers can handle 125. Should I be looking to upgrade this ASAP? if so, recs? Lastly, has any added a center channel to their system? worth it?

I don’t have a great answer for this so hopefully someone here does. Try Amoeba Records to start though.

1. First, local stores, but you already said that. If it's a new record not at my local store I buy direct from the artist's website. If it's an old vinyl I'm looking for, discogs.
2. my friend has a klipsch setup and i like it, not sure if it's that same model though. but also consider the SVS Prime as well. i own their Ultra tower speakers and they are great. i bought the ultras before the prime came out, but word is the primes are clearly the best value at SVS. had the ultras for six years now I think. SVS has a killer 5 year warranty and customer service. i had an amp go dead on one of their subs and they sent me a new one 4 years after purchase, it was easy to install myself. or you could poke around locally and see if you can find some vintage tower speakers for cheap.

After I go to my local record store on most Record Store Days I tend to check out what's still available from Bullmoose Records online shop. www.bullmoose.com/

Mostly I order direct from the label or band. If you order from Bandcamp pages, you'll get the mp3's when it's released.
I use Popmarket for a lot of easy to access stuff because free shipping. Just don't do pre-orders from them. www.popmarket.com
Repo Records has a nice selection for pick-up, so I'll get a good chunk of the haul there. After that I'll primarily go through artist site, and then last choice will be sites like Rough Trade / Turntable Lab / Merch Bar.

My Taylor Swift vinyl just arrived and the cardboard box had a bunch of paper stars inside, sort of like big confetti. I'm glad I opened it flat and they didn't spill everywhere. Neat touch, though.

The correct answer is discogs.com. I saw someone later in the thread reply popmarket; I have bought from popmarket via discogs before. I think all the small/med sized online record stores sell through discogs. Pricing is super competitive on discogs, too.

Repo is great - if they don't have what you're looking for let them know and they'll see if they can get it in for you.

My wife and I bought a new car last month so my vinyl buying has taken a hit. I did pick up a copy of Black Unity Trio - Al-Fatihah for RSD yesterday. It's a repress of one of the world's most sought after Free Jazz albums from the 70's. It's not crazy expensive but with just 500 copies in existence, it's super rare.

Ended up grabbing Kids See Ghosts, Life on the Murder Scene, and the Drive by truckers live session at RSD yesterday. Really happy to get all 3. Local record store had 3 copies of the special Rolling Stones release (they only made like 900, priced at $99.)
I lost my song machine download code in the move. Does anyone have a spare one?
I have done this exactly one time, but also lost mine for another record and reached out to the label where it was redeemed and just let them know what happened and offered the receipt and they sent me a code
