If we're leaving Knoxville in the early AM (3:30 or 4AM) on Thursday, do 'Roo veterans from Knoxville suggest taking 1-75 to Chattanooga, then head up I-24 to Manchester...........or take I-40 W to Hwy.111, 70, and then 55?
I've read the horror stories about Hwy. 55 traffic but I wasn't sure how bad it would be at 6-7AM vs. I-24 traffic at 6-7AM.
I'm a rookie at this, so any info or advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
We got there last year around noon taking the 75 to 24 route and only had a 3 hour wait. We are leaving around 4am friday morning this year. I thought 75 to 24 was a pretty good way to go, you just never know what to expect know matter witch way you go. Good luck!
Thanks for the feedback. What time do you plan to arrive leaving on Friday morning?
Also, on Sunday, there is a chance we will have to leave to get back to Knoxville by Sunday night. Is it possible to pack up and leave without disrupting our neighbors' camping arrangements..b/c in looking at pictures of 2003 and 2002 campsites, the cars look pretty packed together in the campgrounds. How can we get out if we had to leave early?
I guess we will get there about 8:00 am on friday. We have a camper so hopefully the designated camper sites are cool. We left sunday last year, fortunately we were in the last row of Camp Weave, they left a 4 foot wide buffer between the camps so we got out no problem.........everyone there is so cool getting out should not be a problem, I'm sure your neighbors would make it possible if you needed to exit.
