Hey just a heads up....I live in Rutherford County, just across from Davidson County.
If you're coming from the north and will be passing through Rutherford County on I-24 be aware, they recently changed the speed limit from 70 mph to 60 MPH on the interstate....and I've seen alot of cops busy....so just be careful and note that the speed is slower than you think.
I know there is no construction going on right now in the reduced speed section, not even any orange signs or barrels. Not sure what construction they'd be doing either as this section is 8 lanes (4 each way) and only a few years old.
Oh well, just be careful because I know it caught me by surprise and Smyrna likes to give tickets.
Yeah it seems to start right at the Rutherford county line and goes at least all the way to the Church St exit in the 'boro. And at first I thought construction too, but it's been over a week and no sign of anything like troo said.
Actually I was on I-24 today and after 840 it's 70mph again. So it seems only Lavergne and Smyrna have lowered the speed limit. Can you say "Speed Trap"?
So it's 55mph in Nashville, goes to 65mph at Exit 54, up to 70mph at Exit 56, back down to 60mph at Exit 62, and back to 70 mph at Exit 76.
Just keep an eye on the signs everyone. They're trying to F@#K with us apparently.
EDIT: I just talked to TDOT and they will be starting some construction in this area soon. All negative comments directed towards any undeserving parties are hereby withdrawn.
Still keep an eye on the speed limits.

they are moving pretty fast on the resurfacing. they could be finished by Wednesday. *shrug* They have been closing lanes from 8pm to 6am every night. so if you are going 24 east thru northern rutherford county at night there will be delays.
oh and don't forget. it's click it or ticket right now. they are really cracking down on seatbelts. that's how i got pulled over on my way to the farm last year. guy in the passenger seat forgot to put his belt on. DOH! don't let something silly like a seatbelt give them a reason to pull you over!
