So this will be my first time in TN and Im flying into Nashville airport the day before roo. Can anyone reccomend a really good place for BBQ? One of my birthday presents from my girlfriend is BBQ when we land. Oh yeah one of our friends is a vegan so.... if they have good salad or whatever that would be a bonus. thanks -Wang
It seems that some of the best BBQ places aren't in Nashville itself, but the surrounding suburb cities. Don't know if you guys will have a car or not. There are still some decent places in Nashville to get BBQ, but a lot of them are chains:

i second the votes on Bar-B-Cutie on Donelson Pike (right by the airport) or Whitts. There is a Whitts at the airport but I think you need to experience actually going into a "real" one ;D Their turkey loaded potato is amazing.

troo is right about Whitt's. It is really good. Wish you were coming through Knoxville, I would take you to a couple local places. M & M, for a smoked bologna sandwich and ribs, then to Backroom for a pulled pork and beef brisket sandwich and some fried corn on the cob. And then you would sleep. Haha, anyone ever seen that episode of Boondocks where they open the soul food place with beds in it?
The Slick Pig in Murfreesboro. It's on East Main St. ^.^ I used to live on the 2nd floor of it and was forced to smell Bar-b-que day in and day out. lol
Is that the place in the parking lot of the laundrymat on Middlebrook? (On doing a little independent research, it looks like maybe they moved but are reopening on Middlebrook?) I used to live off of Joe Hinton Rd., and we went to M&M all the time (except we called it Big Daddy Rich's because that's what the sign there said even though I guess it actually was M&M Catering). I almost always got the pork sandwich. Incidentally, did you hear something about the guy who owned it getting killed? I thought my little brother told me that, but maybe I just made that up.
Get in a car and drive about 200 miles west to Memphis. That's where the REAL stuff is!
I grew up in Memphis, so I'll second this. While there's some decent places in middle Tennessee, western Tennessee (Memphis and the surrounding area) is where the good stuff is.
best bbq ive had was at Dinosaur BBQ in Rochester, NY (where i live). Yes I know, its not the real thing, but if you're ever in NYC, Rochester or Syracuse you gotta check it out, its pretty affordable and damn good. (try the brisket) -Wang

Find dickerson rd (turns into 1st ave I think?) and follow it until you find a place you want to eat, its littered with mom and pop places. Not the best part of town but safe to stop at during the day.

Fayetteville Tn has some good BBQ on hwy 231/431 there is a Barn looking building called Holders BBQ. It some of the best around they've got the awards to prove it. Its not to far from manchester.
