I am sure this has been discussed but I find the search feature of inforoo difficult. I am driving from Maine and was wondering what the best route is. It seems there are many choices and I having been dragging the google maps line all around with little change in overall time.
Don't take 95 down, it will take you through EVERY major city on the damn east coast! Go west on 84 out to Scranton, PA and then take 81 allllll the way down!

Agreed - Rt 84 to Rt 81 is your best best down and back. Just remember to set the cruise control and you'll be fine. It's such a long, boaring road that it is tempting to go fast --don't do it. You don't want to be stopped all stinky and with a supply of TN firecrackers in your dusty old car....
So if I am leaving Tuesday evening, it looks like the weather might punch me in the face... Driving through thunderstorms Tuesday night into Wednesday... YUCK!
