So I'm thinking of bringing a kiddie pool to Roo because it's a fun thing to do. The thing I want to know is it is possible to take a hose directly from a water supply? If not would filling it up via buckets be feasible?
There is music to go listen to. Plus you would need a couple of very long garden hoses.
Personally I'd keep the pool at home. I would hate to see it tipped over and washing someone's campsite away.
Sure, but when it's hot and no bands/bruce is playing, it would be really nice to have along. And it's tiny- big enough to fit two people max, really, so it won't be enough water to wash a campsite away. Also if you've ever filled up a kiddie pool, they're surprisingly heavy- like, heavy enough that tipping it over has to be very much intentional.
#1 - filling it will be a PITA - there is no telling how far from a water source you will be parked
# 2 - dirty wookies coming by your campsite when you are gone and thinking it is perfectly fine to play in = dirty water that you would then have to empty and then refil if you wanted to use it.
# 3 - see # 2 - that means that the water has to go somewhere and if my campsite was next to yours and ended up all muddy from the run off - I would be pissed.
Someone near us had one last year and then only way that were able to fill it was because they brought an RV. I think they regretted it later because it uses a surprisingly large amount of water to fill and keep filled.
I actually shipped mine out, a little blow up one. I agree, when there is nothing i want to see or not able to make, might as well sit in the pool...mine doesn't hold much water anyways, and it will probably evaporate too. Summertime fun boys & girls
it is calling for rain, so set it out and mother nature will fill it up. Rig up some drains with a tarp off your car to it. I was thinking about collecting the rain in buckets to have extra water for a solar shower.

you do bring up some good points that i didn't think about...either i get lucky and have a place to fill/dump or I just leave it in the box...I would never want to mess up someone's tent and belongings. Cause I know I wouldn't want it done to me.

I'd rather it NOT rain and have to do the manual labor...if at all.

Well i'm trying to be optimistic- if it rains then it'll be easy to clean up; if it doesn't then the ground will be dry and will soak up the water quickly. If the water is too moist to soak it up in a reasonable amount of time, i'll just wait until our neighbors have packed up to dump it.
Anyway, having never been to roo before, what are the water stations like? Do they have taps with which we can fill up buckets?
There are water stations but like Meg said it'll be a PITS. You aren't guaranteed to be close to the water stations and the time wasted luggin buckets back & forth would not be worth to me. I'd say just go sit in the mushroom fountain
I just don't get the whole concept of chillin' at camp. I was only @ camp last year for food, water & to get more NO NO WORD. Even when Bruce is playing, who I don't care too much for, there are SO many other things to do other than sitting at camp. I can sit in a kiddie pool doing nothing at my house. Different strokes for different folks though.
That said, good luck with your pool an be careful not to dump it near anyone else's camp cause a wet tent due to a neighbor would suck. Also, the wook thing that Meg mentioned kind of grosses me out. And Meg knows...she smells like urine, so imagine the consequenses if someone like her got in your kiddie pool while you were jammin' in Centeroo!

well i had thought of covering the pool with a tarp when we're not there. i doubt too many wooks would be willing to pull a tarp off and risk getting caught to sit in a kiddy pool. i really just want it because i know how hot it can get and a little downtime never hurt anybody. I plan on buying a solar shower and getting everyone to rinse off a little bit before they sit in it. www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=10715081 That's the one we got by the way. The only problem I'm foreseeing is lugging buckets of water back to it.
I am just saying this, and I hope I am wrong. However I would think if you leave it unattended someone is gonna pee in it. Even if it doesn't happen I am always gonna imagine that it did. I would hate to have to try to explain to the GF how I got Gonorrhea from a kiddie pool.

That's a pretty decent sized pool. 8.5 feet long, 5.25 feet wide and 1.5 feet tall. Keep in mind that your suppose to get 10x10 foot space. Just throwin' out some facts.
Water weight about 8.35 pounds per gallon, that pool holds 151 gallons. That is 1260 or pounds of water to haul most likely a minimum of 150 yards. Hope you have a lot of friends.

When I opened this thread up this is the 1st thing I thought
Yeah that pool is a lot bigger than I imagined. That will take forever to fill up.
A 5 gallon bucket about 3/4s full weighs about twenty five pounds, I would guess 50 plus trips every time you wanted to fill it, and unless there is a thunderstorm I dont see emptying it.

yeah okay. well, we're going up in a yukon- don't you get the length of the car by 10 feet? and we have four friends going separately, one meeting me there, the two girls we're going with and my brother and i. the 151 gallons is max, i think. so if we each make three or four trips we could get it mostly full. also we have several buckets. I'm not really sure why this thread is still going now, basically i'm just defending a plan i know is frivolous. isn't roo all about frivolity though?
