I am not sure if this is in its proper place, so sorry mods, my bad.
SO, Over the past few years, friends and I have posted-up, a day or two before Roo, at a local campground named Whispering Oaks Campground, its on Sixteenth Model RD just off of I-24. Does anyone know if it is still open? I have called, again and again, no answer every time. We use it as a meeting place for friends coming from various points around the US, it would suck if its closed. Anyone???
Maybe we can use this thread just to pick at the locals brains? I have a question also. We are camping Wed. night at Rock Island State Park. How likely is it that we will be directed/forced to enter Bonnaroo via the Bushy Branch entrance since we will be coming into Manchester from the east on 111 (I think)? And how can we avoid that short of driving back to nashville and coming all the way down I24? Thanks in advance!!
Sorry, makisupamerican, for highjacking your thread (as I know nothing about the campground you mentioned)
But as for the Rock Island question, your best bet is to just come down Hwy70S to Hwy55 to Roo. You'll enter Brushy Branch but it's shorter (less than 40 miles) and I've come in BB a bunch and gotten great campsites.
Thanks troo. Guess we will chance it with BB entrance, we are moving to tent only anyway. We were wanting to enter via I 24 cause we were able to drive by drop off some stuff in tent only as we made our way to the outskirts of BFE where we were parked last year. Gads...I so excited!!!
I guess you could take the smaller road if your set on going in Exit 112. The map shows Hwy 127 to Hwy 41 and back up past Walmart and get on I24 at Exit 114. Never been that way but you could try it.
Now can anyone answer the original campground question?
Hey, Whispering Oaks is still open. Try calling 931-280-0225. I just spoke to them and they have openings but they are not taking reservations it is first come first serve. I live in Manchester so if you need any info just ask! See you at Roo!
