Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm with cheeky - I have taken my shows off when there is room for dancing in the sand in front of the stage but for the most part - my shoes stay on - there is nasty stuff to step in
I go barefoot in Centeroo in the grass or wide open areas (it is true about getting stomped on up close at showsthough. Ouch!)
In the camping areas I always wear shoes/sandals. At early Roos you could go barefoot as people picked up their trash. Not now though. There's way too much unknown material to step on now.
At your camp site or a small dancing area you have cleared and know is safe I do not see a problem being barefoot.
As for going into Centeroo and other public venues you must ask yourself; Do I want to walk around barefoot where 80,000+ others have passed while doing just about anything known to man?
I think the primary question should be thought of first and applied to this question ... Would you do this in a large city just walking the streets? And i think you'd have your answer for this..
I'm basically a hillbilly so I have no problem walking on public streets barefoot. I rarely wear shoes at home, in the yard, walking the neighborhood or swimming. Just don't see the point.
I will wear shoes in stores, etc. as it is expected, considered rude not to, and/or required by law. But not out of necessity.
Did none of you learn anything from John McClain about the danger of going around barefoot? Next thing you know Hans Gruber's going to be shooting out glass all around you and you and you'll end up jumping off a roof with a fire hose tied around you. Consider yourselves warned.

I am a full time barefooter (everywhere possible unless i'm asked otherwise) and i don't plan on being barefoot at bonnaroo unless i'm sitting down somewhere. I'll be wearing vibram 5 finger shoes www.backpackgeartest.org/reviews/....nault/side1.jpg
That's what I'll be wearing as well, but the KSO's, same color. The awesome feeling of going barefoot without all the nastiness.
And for everyone else, I frequently go barefoot at college for the whole day. You get some strange looks, but it's a very liberating feeling. Going barefoot in the rain is the best too.
I was just curious as to what others thought of the idea.
I'm almost positive that I'll be going barefoot at ACL this year. They've got new grass put in, and I haven't found the ground to be too disgusting there.
I enjoy going barefoot at roo, but I typically only do it in the camp or at night. You're gonna step in nasty shit, but it's not as bad if you can't see it. Ignorance truly is bliss. Don't forget to baby wipe your dogs before getting into the tent though.
I love to be barefoot, although, I really only do a lil dancing barefoot at the Roo, I'm scared of stepping on a needle, nasty! I did dance barefoot to Yonder Mountain last year and tore both of my big toes to shreds, so be careful, the grass is SHARP!!!
i'm from FL, land of shoelessness. my husband, from nyc, is still constantly amazed by my utter lack of shoes in all situations. i drove my kiddo to school the other day barefoot and he was shocked. i only go from garage to car and back to garage.. what's the big deal?
that being said, i will probably wear shoes most of the time at roo when not at camp. probably only flip flops because i HATE wearing shoes - too restrictive - but shoes nonetheless. gotta get me some of those toe shoes. i wear toe socks like that in winter to allow me to continue wearing flip flops when its cold. (bringing toe socks for nights at roo for sure - my best glitter argyles).
so, why will i be wearing some footwear at roo most of the time, however minimal? simple. because horse poop is gross. the end.
Walking barefoot at Bonnaroo to me is synonymous with stepping on a piece of broken glass, letting my foot get acquainted with a horse's buttfunk, and contracting some incurable disease from a dirty needle.
So, walking barefoot at Roo doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
Especially if you're planning on walking around barefoot during Phish... just imagine all the melted faces and blown away minds you'll step on. =P

big ups for the FL shoelessness. I love being barefoot down here, I never wear shoes anywhere except into stores etc.
I drive bare foot, keep flip flops in the car to throw on for going in places etc.
I considered going barefoot at Bonnaroo. I do tend to go barefoot anywhere else that the situation allows... but then I thought of the stuff I've seen on the ground in Centeroo and in and around the porta-johns and then someone mentioned needles, which I hadn't even considered... Needless to say, I'll be rocking the Sanuks instead.
Maybe I'll go barefoot at times, like when I'm sitting way at the What stage for those evening shows, but my feet will be protected most of the time.
Hell, I walk barefoot in the snow if I'm just going out for firewood from the barn or something. Barefoot snow walking is refreshing. I went down to help my sister-in-law jump her car last winter barefoot. She thought/thinks I'm not right.
Pick your places to go barefoot at Roo. there are lot of places you can. And lots of places you shouldn't.

I went the entire Roo 04 shoeless. Flip flops wouldn't work in the mud. Never stepped on anything but grass and mud (or at least nothing that hurt anyway). Sadly, like Troo said though, those were the days when people didn't trash the place. I'm hoping the litter situation is better this year.

i have walked around past couple years mostly barefoot. i keep shoes/flippy-floppys with me for when i walk the street or rocks.
i would walk around a city barefoot too, ive done it.
even go into port-o-johns barefoot. its not like im making out with my feet.... no big deal.
Sorry, im not a germaphobe or anything... ive done some gross stuff in my day. But a port-a-potty? Barefoot? Good lord man. Dont you track that back into your tent and sleeping bag?
