we bought a tent that is way bigger than we expected. it is 14 x14. it says it is a 9 person tent. there are only 2 of us. we just did a trial run and were able to put it up. but we think we will need help with the rainfly. especially if the wind is blowing and/or raining. if anyone is a expert at putting up tents and is willing to help us that would be great. any help is greatly appreciated.
I'll help if I happen to be next to you, but I would think just about anyone would if you asked. Also I don't think anyone is an expert tent setter-upper. I thought I was pretty good at it until a couple weeks ago when I went camping with some friends and one of them had this ridiculously huge tent that had like 4 different types of tent poles and with like 8 of us we still couldn't get it set up. Of course it was dark... and we had no instructions.. haha

The worst tent to put up I've ever seen was the one my son bought at Mal-Wart last July. We went camping on the river a few miles from home. We didn't get there untill around midnight and spent around 3 hours, I think, with instructions, trying to assemble that monstrosity. Finally got it close enough to sleep in. It went back where it came from soon after.
Don't worry. Your neighbors will help. Just stake out your space, coordinating with them, and help them a bit and they'll help you a bit. 6 Roos and it always works this way for me.
If you still need help, stop by Camp Inforoo and someone will volunteer.
Or look for my bland, lime green flag with a pink flamingo on top. If I'm anywhere near, come ask me.

yea, hopefully we have friendly neighbors. i told my wife our neighbors may hate us for having a tent taking up that much space with just the 2 of us in it.
^^^ that was going to be my question Sangreal why did you get such a large tent for just two? esp. for Bonnaroo. I won't say I'm an expert but I've set many a tent and will help if but some ridiculous circumstance we camp close to one another.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
You'll definitely get help from neighbors, but don't wait until dark to set up that beast!
I set up my tent to air out today, and realized it is exactly 20 years old (I got it when I joined scouts at 11, 31 now)! It's an LL Bean 4 person tent, with outer frame + clips (modern tech then, standard now) It's in great condition too, no leaks or tears. It just goes to show, air them out when you get home, always set up the fly to protect from sun, and a good tent will last a looooong time.

last time we had a 13x10 and our queen size air mattress pretty much took up all the room in the tent. so we got a bigger one. we just didn't realize how much bigger it is. i was joking to my wife that we could rent out the other half of it to someone else. it has 2 rooms. each room has more space than our old tent, it seems like. it should be super comfortable once we get it put up.

A queen is roughly 5'x7'. You should have had a bunch of space left over in a 13'x10' tent with a queen sized air mattress on the floor. Something like 95 square feet! I have an 8'x8' 3 person tent and a queen sized air mattress. It fills up most of the tent, but there is still plenty of room for bags and whatnot on the sides and corners and a decent area in front of the door so I don't have to step on the bed when I enter the tent.

there was definitely not that much room. but now we have too much room in the new one. need to find the middle ground if we ever buy another tent.
Tents can be really deceiving...we have a 16 x 10 for two people (we're in VIP...space isn't an issue there) and we managed to fill that sucker up b/w our air mattresses and our gear. Good luck setting up and finding friendly neighbors. I'm sure you won't have an issue!
I've got a 14x14 for just me this time around. ;D It wasn't just for me when I got it a few years ago for my first Roo, though. I didn't know how many people I'd be shoving in there. Like Sass, I'm in VIP, so not much of a space issue.

if you weren't in vip we could help each other out.

You're neighbors will help... I was a neighbor that helped two girls with a 10 person tent. Our set-up took all of the room so what we did was attach a wall of their tent to a wall of our canopy and it was supported with our poles not theirs. then, on the other sides we used their poles and they ended up with half their tent set-up, but it being completely supported. hope that makes sense.
